music on xangas Options

i get really annoyed when i go to an xanga and it looks really awesome, but it has music on it. i can't stand it. i listen to winamp and your xanga music ruins my nice winamp music.
i just exit out of the xanga (unless it has a stop button, which most of them don't), it bothers me.

what do you think about it?

Well, sometimes it is annoying (Keeping in mind I have a Music site ). But if it has a "Stop" button, then that's great.

erm... well whats so bad about xanga music? I think it enhances the site if it fits with the layout, and it also shows the person's personality, and i respect that. I mean, its a way of putting out your character in public, and that's what xanga is about, no? Yea, as for winamp, usually I just stop winamp when im browsing xangas so i wouldnt know if it messes it up or not. just my opinion.

Yea,i think those are annoying too,mine used to be that way but i decided to get one were you could choose your song and whatnot it has the whole stop,pause and play thing.I think thats better.

I have having to pause my music to read someone's xanga. It's really annoying. If you have music put a stop button on your xanga.

I love music on xangas. Mainly because I have fun changing them everytime I update...so all the ppl who visit my xanga will know what type of songs I like!

Visiting other ppl's xangas with music is not a problem. I just pause the song that I"m listening to.

yes, people can show their personalities without music. However, like i said, it enhances their characteristics more and give the reader/viewer a more personal view of the person. Also, what about people who suck at writing? Like people who purposely write in those sTiCkiE cApS y0e or those people who cnt spll fr crp or those people who dont have time to update their xanga all the time? WHat about people who dont write alot ebcause they dont enjoy writing in their xanga, rather, they enjoy designing the layout? For those kind of people, the reader can get to know the person more via music.

yeah usually i'm listening to iTunes and when i go to my friend's site to comment or whatnot, i find out that they change their music to some annoying (usually rap) song and i hear a bad combination of my music and theirs.. haha. but on some occasions, the music is worth pausing my own. (i have rooney )

yea i agree^ but if it annoys u that much, u dont hafta visit their site. or umm u can jus read their post in ur subs and comment realli fast so you dont hafta listen to the song on their site for a long time.

Desperately hit the stop button before any music can load!

Actually, we are considering building a feature that automatically turns off music for any site using our Look and Feel controls.  In the meantime, we recommend turning down the volume as you cruise Xanga.

yea i was browsin around listenin to sumfin on winamp when sum dumbass put william hung as their bg sound. F*CK!
the browser will disable it for you though.

1) Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab
2) scroll down to where it sez "multimedia"
3) untick "play sounds in webpages" and anything else u want to disable.

im running win 98 im not sure about XP or firefox.

I don't mind the music. In fact, something got messed up with my computer and it won't play music from Xangas anymore. I have music on my site, and I always liked it.

the music is not that bad.. its the effects ppl put into their xanga, all these crap makes it impossible to read and u got all these windows popping up saying HI, WELCOME, TAG ON MY CHATTERBOX, and the window of the xanga is enclosed with some sort of border that makes it even smaller, and the fading with the words with bright colors to bright color and dark colors to dark colors, wtf.

You can just hit the "stop" button at the top of the page. Not a music one, the one next to the refresh button. That's what I do. Even though my xanga has music, .

i rarely turn my speakers on, so it doesnt bother me. i put music on my site, but i usually cant find a place to put a stop button, so leave it out. also, i read xangas by the read subscritions page so you dont hear it there. if i leave a comment, i just pause my music , or the turn sound off altogether if i dont like their song. stop complaining, because people wont take their music away-just work around it
