The only real thing that makes us equal to ya'll girls is the fact that both sexes think they're better than the other. lol tongue.gif

..::Edit::.. After looking through some of these posts by girls, girls deff. have the upper hand on looks(would you wanna see a guy talking about wearing a thong at the beach?)

"Boys have their advantages as well as girls have their strong points"

If two things are differetn, they can't be equal. Equal means the same.

eh. i dont think the whole gender thing will ever be equal. girls will always be able to do thing boys cant..i.e be both mom and dad, wear any type of clothes, have an excuse to be cranky and mean, have door held for them, etc. and boys will always be able to grow hair ALMOST everywhere and not be considered disgusting

something that we're both equal in is...BURPING wink.gif

Is it just me or is anyone else noticing old topics being brought back.. I could've sworn I debated this a while ago..

*ahem* anyways..

By that definition of 'equal' then yes, you are correct.

However, from www.m-w.com
One of the definitions of 'equal' is
QUOTE
like in quality, nature, or status

And by that definition yes, boys are equal to girls.. although I don't think society has caught up to the status part of the definition

No, not even in nature. You can say two things are EQUALLY GOOD, but the only way for two things to be EQUAL is for them to be teh same.

People are EQUALLY HUMAN, but we aren't EQUAL. Some people are stronger, smarter, etc. than others.

What is 'equal' defined as in this debate??
Of course some are stronger, smarter, etc.. but gender doesn't realli have much to do with it.. everyone's different in some respect, so what kind of equality are we debating here?

all animals are born equal. some just become more equaler over time.

- a revision of orwell's quote.

think about it. everyone is born equal, but because of society, the become unequal. yes- i'm procrastinating studying for a huck finn 25. question essay test tommorrow.

i had one today on fred. doug. my hand hurt for 3 hours after and i was unable to write well.

society is the great evil in this world.

we should all live in small rooms and only interact though computers with censoring filters so that no one's feelings are hurt.

I agree we are equally human. Both gender have pros and cons, which all balance out in the end. But i do not understand why boys seem to have things better than girls.

A] Boys can get away with things girls can't. In school if a girl were to fool around or not pay attention, the teacher will be angry. But if it is a boy, the teacher will let it slide.

B] You say we are equaled? Then why is this title boys and girls...how come not girls and boys or gender equalities?

C] In chinese traditions, the boy is always better because they will carry on the family line. Yes I agree, BUT without the girl HOW can he carry the family line on? And all they care about are having a boy baby, if every couple had a boy in the family and no one had girls, their family tree will die right there too

D] In society boys also have the upperhand. If you call a girl a hoe, b-tch, slut, you automatically think its a bad thing. But turn it around and call a guy a pimp or player, he'd be proud that someone would give him such a nice name.

...there's my 2 cent...i don't think boys are equal in this ecomy even though we are CREATED equally

They are equal in their need for the opposite sex? Some people are homosexual. Well I would think that in a homosexual relationship, both partners are equal no?

let me expand, people are made to have one of the opposite sex, for homosexuals, their perverseness is not natural and not what God intended. Just look at the anatomy of the human body. homosexuality is just as wrong as pedophelia, but cannot be outlawed in the same way because it is of the age of consent.

If you mean in skills, then it is impossible to measure equality. Each person has his/her own qualities that the others may lack; one man may be better than one woman, but another woman may be better than the man.

Society wise, it is also hard to determine equality. As Mr. Acid mentioned earlier, there is no drafting women (yet) and we certainly do not have equal pay. Some men may respect women, but others will look down on women. Some men may respect a FEW women, but look down on the rest of the population.... etc.

I conclude that equality among the sexes is too hard to determine... which is almost the same as no conclusion/not saying anything at all.

Men and Women will never be equal in society. When it comes to a career, it will slant towards men. Because humans are to biased to open their minds.

Agreed. Lol, but there's a few chance that for some certain jobs, it will slant towards women too and not just men.

i dont care if im offending anyone, why should they let me dictate their lives? and yes the guy was changing this to homosexuality. because men and women are equal in their need for each other. in society men and women are equal, in actuality men and women are like apples and oranges. they are both better than the other at different things. because that is how they are built.

and hell no let's not have tolerance. u can be gay but i dont wanna know about it. it is nothing to be proud of. tolerance of that way of life is wrong. but it doesnt mean u arent accepted as a person in my book. u just shouldnt be waving around ur dirty laundry is all im saying.

There's so much sexism in the world, and I think that it's very obvious that it still is in favor of men. In Africa, there are tribes where girls as young as 13 are auctioned off as wives by their fathers. In America, women are widely thought of as housekeepers and cooks. Parents teach their children to think of women as weak and fragile. How many times do you hear young boys making ignorant sexist remarks?

True, there are some careers that are in favor of women. Like INTERIOR DECORATING. *cough* But it's just highly unlikely that women and men will be "equal" anytime soon.
