i was fortunate enough to be part of a special advanced showing of the passion of the Christ.

it was stirring, it was powerful...

the whole audience was silent, hushed by the beauty of their battered Savior, in awe of the sacrifice He willingly made for the sake of all who would call out His blessed name.

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST is a vivid depiction of the last 12 hours of Jesus Christ's life.

Sometime around the year A.D. 30, in the Roman province of Palestine, an obscure Jewish carpenter named Jesus of Nazareth began to teach publicly and to proclaim the coming of a 'Kingdom of God.' For centuries, the Jewish people had expected the appearance of a promised deliverer known as the Messiah --a figure who would restore their ancient dignity, and free their sacred homeland from all evil and despair. In the minds of many, Jesus appeared to be this Messiah. Surrounded by a core group of twelve disciples, Jesus began to attract a massive following from among the common people of Galilee and Judea, who eventually praised him as their Messiah and King. However, Jesus also had many enemies in Jerusalem. The Sanhedrin, a governing senate composed of the leading Jewish priests and Pharisees, conspired to put Jesus to death.

With the aid of Judas Iscariot, a member of Jesus' own inner circle, the Sanhedrin succeeded in arresting Jesus, handing him over to the Roman secular authorities on unsubstantiated charges of treason against Rome. Although Jesus consistently maintained that his Kingdom was a heavenly and spiritual one, the Roman procurator Pontius Pilate, faced with the possibility of a riot, ordered that Jesus be taken outside the city and crucified as a common criminal.

If some lady had a heart attack and a seizure during The Cat in the Hat, no one would be making such a big deal out of it. They're making a mockery of the suffering of this woman by trying to put the blame on the movie which I think is just plain ludicrous. They're using this woman's suffering to make a story, stir up more controversy, and most of all get more ratings. I have no respect for the media when it comes to this kind of thing.

i was just watchin this movie few hrs ago!!! it WAS really really really sad. i was like im not gonna cry durin the movie that mornin at school but then the film was really powerful and heart-touchin. i think pretty much all of my friends cried sorta. but i didnt coz: 1. back in the phil every holy week every channels or almost every channel would show these bible stories related to jesus and they showed another version of this movie so i had a picture in my mind what the movie was gonna be. but this one is way better though coz they actually focused within that 12-hr time frame; and 2. my friend kept lookin at his cell so i would always notice the green light from it and would get distracted huh.gif

wow, that is the only way you can describe the movie.

as a person who has rebelled against organized religion, i found this movie uplifting and refreshing....

i love how mel gibson not only depicted the holy aspect of Jesus but also his human side....

WOW!

Go see the movie.... its good

fallen.gif Being a Christian means that you understand that you inevitably sin and "fall" ... watching this movie reminds me that Jesus is always there for me ... hug.gif ... btw ... i didn't even know that the movie was about his last 12hrs on Earth ... that's what also caught me by surprise. super duper intense from the 1st second ... awesome movie!!! thumbsup.gif ... OH OH OH!! bring tissues .. if not for you ... then the person sitting next to, in front of or behind cry.gif

I guess I should start watching tv more... Too much internet.. And nothing to watch on tv except lame supposively RL (real life) shows and stereotypical show depicting what high school SEEMS like but really isn't.

back to the subject. I really would like to learn more about Jesus. =) I'm Buddhist, but I would like to get to know more religions happy.gif

yes, talk about incredible! I didn't completely cry or bawl because I just have that instinct of feeling embarresed of doing that in public, but i was watery eyed a Whole lot of the time. There were parts where I was feeling really really mad and sad at the same time, i was making faces like I was gonna reach in the movie and grab the gaurds and rip their heads off!

yea, this movie is incredible... if you havnt seen it yet, you absolutly must!

Oh.. my.. gawsh. Yes, I wanted to jump into the movie and just slap the guards when they just started kicking him and whipping him when he fell. Err.. but then I thought I would BONK! my head on the screen if I tried. Anyway, Yes, that movie... words cannot express the effectiveness and it's-- Yes, it was a VERY good movie. *sigh* The sacrifices that Jesus made. Wow, it.. eh.. he had to go through all those horrible whippings. I would have just asked God to take me away from that. Dang.. he gets beaten for being the Messiah. Everyone should watch, it really shows you what happened.

i heard that the movie was really gory. birds pecking at eyeballs and the like. i dont know, but.... i'm not really into watching jesus die a slow torturous death. :X so nah, i think i'll skip the movie (and read the bible instead).

i am sort of against the movie...i think its powerful and some parts are actually biblical but Mel gibson seems to exxagerate a bit and the movie is highly influenced by catholic beliefs...you have to know what your going to see and know what the real story is before you let yourself be influenced by entertainment...i think im gonna see it anyways happy.gif

it was amazing.. mel gibson is a genius.. although the scenes were extremely painful to watch it held true to what was written in the bible and the viewers are most definitely moved and englightened in watching this movie. i reccommend it to those who haven't seen it. and regardless of what religion you are i think that it is well worth seeing because of the meaning you get out of it.. it really made me reevaluate my life and realize how precious life really is..

1 John 4: 10-11
` this is l0ve; n0t that we l0ved God, but that He l0ved us and sent His Son as an at0ning sacrifice f0r 0ur sins. dear friends, since God s0 l0ved us, we also 0ught t0 l0ve 0ne an0ther. `

I saw it yesterday... I was so disturbed... and during the entire movie I had a look of disgust plastered on my face... I looked at the wall in the theater during the gruesome parts... It was too much for me to handle... and a couple of tears ran down my cheeks... but I didn't cry like i never cried before... -- i will never watch this movie again.

it was a very powerful movie, the entire theatre went silent during some scenes and by the time the movie ended, everyone left silently...it left me speechless as well

even though i'm not christian i am very respectful of others beliefs. i went to go see this movie. it was very moving to me. i cried about 5 times. it didn't change my religious beliefs but it challenged them enough to get me thinking. i'm now studying further into christianity. i know for a fact that i don't agree with christianity how it is today. i believe that the church changed it. to benefit themselves. i won't go into further detail, i just thought it was an awesome movie and i'm grateful i saw it. happy.gif

I've read critiques and articles about the movie, and I am greatly intrigued. I do hope it would be viewed in theatres here in the Philippines. cry.gif I'm really looking forward to watching it since I am a devoted Catholic. I really really hope I could see it on the big screen, but if I can't, hopefully I could purchase a DVD of it sometime soon. ermm.gif _unsure.gif
