I just started a tumblr.com account after being recommended by a bunch of people and I don't understand it. Is it a social networking site like facebook or just to vent thoughts? Can you make friends? I'm so awkward....

I wouldn't really call it the social networking... more like a shortest blog ever, very simple! :D Automatically helps you to upload an image, video, quote, etc. Kind of like Twitter!

When people ask me what Tumblr is, I usually describe it as a blog that's not really meant for long written posts. It's really a place to post things you find cool and want to share. I think it's very much like the "link" application on Facebook, but it's open to everyone and they can share them around too.

it took me awhile to understand how to use tumblr itself. now, i'm hooked. shit.
it's an easy way to blog something short and sweet, and at many times, impersonal. |

I miss those days, not so long ago, when tumblr was free from myspace/Twitter/xanga whores. Yeah, great way to vent because the Internet should care about your well-being.

I've noticed an increase in angsty Tumblr users since I made mine in 2008, but I just avoid those tumblelogs and follow ones free of complaints. |
