I never had one. I worked four summers as a web developer, then as a research assistant, then I spent a summer installing phone jacks and networking ports, so I never had time. Now I work at a literary magazine.

I realize that my response is completely unhelpful, but here's a tip for presenting yourself: do some research on the place so you know what you're talking about when you go in for an interview, don't have sweaty palms, and just present yourself as confidently as you can.

i interned last semester at school, but i have no clue why they called it an internship. it was just like a job and i mostly ended up doing assistant work. it was alright. this isn't helpful either though.

i agree with michael, research the place beforehand and know what it does. also prepare yourself for the most basic of questions, like "why do you want to work here?". if you can't tell them why you want to work there specifically then you're probably screwed. also i think it's good to have a question or two that you want to ask them. in any interview i've ever been in they ask at the end if i have any questions. my last boss afterwards said she prefers when people ask a question because it shows them they've actually thought about working there. my stock question is to ask what the work environment there is like.

I've never had an internship, but I've been on a number of agency tours and information sessions. So adding on to what Michael said, ask well thought-out questions that show that you're interested in the company and what it does. But make sure the answers aren't easily accessible through their website.

I just noticed this looks like both a compliment and an insult.

eat a banana before the interview. the potassium will calm you and help with nerves. i used to eat like... 4 bananas before every piano competition >.<

anyways... my internship wasn't really a real internship. i basically followed a surgeon around. it was a cool experience, i got to go into the exam room, watch surgeries, etc, but it was more of a 3 month job shadow than an internship. i actually have a friend going into PR that's interning for IMG. she got to work ny fashion week and stuff. she said it was craaazy.
