Those of you who have me on Facebook will recognize this little rant of mine.

QUOTE
I'm here to spread the word on net neutrality.

AFP has created this bastard advertisement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07teCE1EWZY, claiming that the FCC is going to "regulate" the internet with it's net-neutrality. Net-neutrality is good, without it you can't visit Facebook, or Myspace, and even basic sites like Wikipedia are going to be regulated. Small web-based businesses are going to die, and large businesses are going to keep making more money. Google, Yahoo, and Bing (or whatever your search engine of choice happens to be) will be heavily taxed services.

This doesn't even just mess up the internet for The United States, it ruins it for every developed nation on Earth.

Tell your friends and family, the FCC isn't going to violently take over the internet. It wants the exact opposite. The FCC wants the internet to stay the way it is.

And the video in question:

Net neutrality is an attempt to prevent ISPs from filtering and throttling their customers connections based on what content they are viewing. The AFP is trying to do exactly the opposite. Whether they're genuinely stupid, or they just don't know what they're trying to do, I'm not sure.

The f*ck. If they go through with this, it'll be like that AT&T incident, only 1,000,000 times worse.

However, I'm pretty sure it won't happen. Seems like they're just trying to scare the interwebz, and besides, I think there'll be a lot less money coming in from the internet if they decide to actually do this. Also, a lot of people would lose their online jobs (because, like you said, the small web-based businesses would begin to die) leaving more people without money who need that money. Basically, everything would go to hell.

Seems really f*cking stupid for them to even think about, though, because in the end, we'll still have the good ol' carefree internet we all love and enjoy.

I don't know about you guys, but if I lose my online rights, I'm probably going to do something really stupid.
