I am a big procrastinator when it comes to school.. I failed math last semester because I wouldn't do homework all the the time so when it came to test I just failed...now I am taking that class again and out of 3 test I have failed 1 and just took one and I'm sure I failed, so that's 2 out of 3... she will drop the lowest grade & replace It with the final exam but I'm doubting that that would help me pass and this class is needed for my major.. And the Internet doesn't help alot I go check something and I'm hooked for hours
so what do you do or try to do so you don't procrastinate?? Or some techniques.. |

I used to procrastinate a lot, but I curbed my problem a lot this semester. I did two out of three sociology papers well over a week before they were due, and I did an anthropology assignment a few days before the due date as well. I find that it's better to do work ahead of time so that I have less work to do later, and I don't have to stay up late to finish assignments. I don't know how I stopped procrastinating; I guess I just decided to get my act together and get all A's so that I can finish my freshman year of college with at least a 3.5 GPA like I had wanted.

Well now that I think about it I do my homework for other barely on time but I do them.. But with math is different the professor just assigned homework but never checked it or grade it, didn't even look at it... so there was no motivation like your 3.5 gps that u wanted.. I mean I so want good grades & get all bad ass sayin this time I'll do it on time soI get good enough grades to transfer to a good school but when it comes to actually sitting down an doing it I just go bleh I can do it in a bit and still finish on time but that bit never comes.... Think I need to improve my self motivation and self-will??

You just need to set some strong goals and whys for yourself like Cristy did. Her goal is to finish off her freshman year with a 3.5+ gpa and by the looks of it, she'll hit it. And then think about your whys. Like why are you going to school? (may be a stupid question but really think about it) Is it because you want to get that dream job of yours one day? So you have enough money to buy that nice hour and car you've always wanted? Every time you feel like giving up, just think about those things. Like to the point where it gets you mad. That'll be the fuel that drives you to not procrastinate.

Man, I am a professional procastinator. There are days when I just can't get my shit together, no matter how good my intentions are. I used to beat myself up about it to, which made it worse because not only did I continue to procrastinate, I started dwellling on everything I needed to get accomplished.
Lists really helped (and continue to help) me. Good old fashioned written lists on notebook paper. Just the small act of crossing something off gave me a tiny sense of accomplishment. I think that it's also helpful to pace yourself. Think of your days as a whole - with minor things in between to take care of. During the day, focus on small tasks, even if you're just working on something for a few minutes. Sometimes a few minutes make a world of difference. |

If you think about your goals and the fact that procrastinating will hinder you from achieving them, you might be able to clean up your act and start doing well. |
