Last time we had all these great ideas about recreating createblog.
But I guess it's true, without Jusun, their is nothing we can do.
I absolutely think if he'd picked a team of designers and coders,(A while ago)
this place could of been better then smashing magazine. But I guess it's too late huh?

Well, What happen to that site Fixtatik was doing?
It's just I love CB, but it's dead! So making a new SITE, with a TEAM
this time, we could do something amazing.

I'm not complaining, But I'm saying lets do something already.
since Jusun doesn't want too.

It'll take more than that. When I joined CB five years ago, LiveJournal and MySpace were the shit. Now Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, etc. are the hot new blogging/communications platforms. 'Cept CB doesn't offer any resources for those sites. (And why should it? Tumblr has its own template-distribution system, Facebook can't be styled, and Twitter is dead-simple but very limited in how you can tweak it.)

We still have the community forums, but it seems like we're trying to model CB's forums off of 4Chan now, 'cept we don't even have the limited creativity and cleverness of 4Chan.

my revival would never work. when i think of revival i think of interesting topics with lots of discussion. what most people are interested is thoughtless topics in mass quantity with fly by posting. most the people here are boring and don't even have real interests to discuss. (or that's how most the people here come across) for example, i made a handful of topics yesterday and the most boring "you don't have to think, read, have an opinion or discussion" topic was the successful one. people would rather discuss list what is in their pockets rather than generation gaps or college educations. shrugs, just sayin, we're hampered on all levels from resources, to change capability (jusun), to just our demographic. we just don't have thoughtful interesting people anymore, either that or we just don't have any who are interested in wasting their time being thoughtful or interesting here.

that's why i said my revival would never be successful. i'm not that interested in like what the weather is like or what people ate for their last meal that i wanna come here just to read that. that isn't fun to me. the people who enjoy that kind of stuff should be the ones to revive it they way they want.

That, and most people here are dicks. Or at least go out of their way to try to be. I noticed this because I've been browsing a few other forums lately (namely, the XKCD forums) that have similarly tight-knit communities. I used to be addicted to Internet forums, but the past couple years I've been coming exclusively to CB, and I forgot that on other forums with close-knight communities, people are actually nice to each other. But on CB, a lot of the regular members are trying to be "bad-ass" and "cool". Look at the Relationships forum, for example: 4 or 5 years ago people could get real advice, but now if you post something there, or anywhere else, that alludes to even a minor personal problem or moment of insecurity, you'll get skewered. I'm sure some people here think that's entertaining, but it's a very puerile, un-witty form of humor.

I don't mind the fly by topics but it just wears down after a while when that is all you seem to read here. That and the circle jerking that happens in Tech sometimes.

Isn't this a site for resources, help, and learning? Don't you think it shouldn't be all for "fun" and more resourceful, I love Jc's revival plan.

I been to a couple of forums. and people are more interesting, the topics are more helpful, unlike CB. Theres nothing to discuss about.
People are too random, and less helpful then it use to be. so i could understand why its dead.


I'm saying is, we have The Lounge and the rest of the Community Center for randomness,
But Nothing is even interesting in those forums ether. It's a boring site.
it's still helpful though, for the past history (basically for myspacers) which is dead anyways. I still love this site cause of the history, the BBoR, and the showcase forum

People on here have a thing called real life filled with jobs, school, and what nots. The people who do not have said lifes are either to unmotivated / not talented enough to recreate a CB. We all have stated several ideas. Good luck finding someone who is down to put those ideas into action.

and if traffic came in, then they could make a lot of revenue/money from it
(Ads - The Advertisements you see on this site)
probably around 2006, 2007. Jusun made a lot from CB.
(I don't know if it was "A lot though" but their was a lot of traffic around
that time.

yea it would be nice if those people loved this site, but they aren't going to. this site is run by a bunch of teenagers for the most part. i'm not talking about the staff as much as just everyone in general, this isn't a site for professionals and never has been really. a site like that needs way more people that are knowledgeable. most the people here have no knowledge of design. there's a few who can make layouts or graphics, but they aren't "designers". they're just people who can apply some filters and cut shit out in photoshop.

98% of the people who post for help here aren't concerned with concepts or ideas. their work isn't conceptual and doesn't visually communicate much of anything. it doesn't usually have any rhyme or reason to it. they can't tell you why they did anything other than they think it looks good. (which it usually doesn't even look good) they are unconcerned with actual design elements like visual hierarchy or negative space. their work usually has no coherent color theory or point to the colors they choose, and also they typically suck at coming up with color palettes. also the vast majority don't know shit about typography, how to use or not use type, etc. you can't take a site filled with people like this and make it some professional design site. the people here are like 16 year olds who like to make shit for myspace. they aren't designers and aren't even concerned with real design much.


i mean i'm cool with making some topics in my free time about working/historic graphic designers/firms/movements, or more design inspiration kind of topics but most people here aren't going to care. the only ones who will prob care much is the few people here who might be interested in a career in the field or perusing design school.

no, silly. i'm sure most of us want to do much better things on photoshop besides looking at a celebrity and editing the shit out of them. look at what most things get submitted on cb. more than half of the submissions are flooded with celebrities/cartoons/nature/objects/text/etc. maybe to you these types of submissions may not help us as a site, but in someway it does. the showcase section is used for sharing and collaborating feedback from other members right? well that's strictly for showcase section.

celebrities. we could hate them with a passion, but they are good sources to work with. i know there are other designers/creators who think outside the box and try to go for something less expected ( like schizo/gabi for example, look at her lyts. beautiful, no?) there's nothing wrong with celebrities as long as you put good use into them. anyone you classify as "known by a lot of people or influenced many people in a way" could be consider as a celebrity. not just kanye or some other celeb of this decade.

i don't agree with changing the name of the site or even starting a whole new one. it's called createblog because the main use of cB back in the day was mainly the xanga & blogger skins with the lounge (& etc.) being an added bonus!! Now the community center and cB as a whole have prosperred TREMENDOUSLY!

I've been back on cB for the past few days and i still see topics with my post as the last one...this is a problem. cB used to be so active that no topic was kept on the first page of each forum for more than a day unless it was a HOT TOPIC...

The reason why cB is so inactive is becuas it's so big!!! There are too many forums. I remember the old Mods thought it would help "organize" the website and it has..but i think in the long run it's hurting the community.

tbh i don't think that has much of anything to do with it. i think it's inactive because the lack of members here posting. we used to have a lot active and now we don't. we have like 10 members here posting at a time. so what if we had 3 forum areas? we would still have 10 members posting. imo the only thing it might do is give the illusion of more activity becasue there is less pages to fill up. which to me isn't the same as actual activity. that wouldn't address member numbers, post content, amount of replies posts get, how many new topics are being made, etc.

it sounds to me like a wishful quick fix. i'd be happy if something like that worked though.
