labtops are computers. Get a desktop if you're not going to move it. Cheaper, runs cooler, desktop equivalent always performs better than labtops, and you have room to upgrade in the future.

also, looking at getting a new computer.

I (and many people I know, I picked this habit up from a friend) call laptops that move as often as a desktop a "Labtop."

Well, I think that some people associate "pc" with "personal computer" and don't associate the abbreviation/acronym with operating system. It's sort of an old term, perhaps.

Yeah. I don't call it PC though, I don't think I ever have. It feels weird not saying desktop or laptop. Sometimes though, I get those really technical people who say it's not a desktop unless it sits on top of the desk with the monitor on top of it. I think that is stupid.

lol, i haven't had a desktop like that since, never... well the ones we used in 6th grade.

I refuse to think of my Mac as a PC. I blame the commercials. I'd rather my computer be Justin Long than fat business man type thing.

But I'm dreading this. I do always get to see the BF ads for Target like a week early so I know what's going to be there but I have to be at the place at 4AM. Not looking forward to that AT ALL.

Black Friday shoppers are insane. I have never been out shopping on Black Friday, but I have heard some interesting stories. Luckily, I don't have a ton of people to shop for, and the people that I do shop for usually want one or two things... totally not worth putting my life in the hands of crazy shoppers who would probably willing beat me up just to get the last of something I unknowingly took off the shelf.

Tower = case, or just the computer itself with no peripherals.
desktop = computer of any kind that is stationary and has peripherils like a screen mouse and keyboard.

tell tell your teacher he/she is wrong.

does anyone know if there are special deals ONLINE on black friday?
specifically newegg and amazon? haha.

macmall has some pretty sweet deals on BF. Better deals on macs and ipods than the apple store on BF.

The last time I was doing Black Friday was at the NYC Macy's.

I was also intoxicated.

I applied for a Macy's credit card, intoxicated.

But I got MAJOR discounts. :D

I rarely go Black Friday shopping. Usually my cousin drags me to the mall or an outlet at midnight to look for clothes and I come back at 6AM tired and empty-handed. I think I'll get some things on Cyber Monday though. ;O

I wasn't even planning on doing it. I was out with a few friends when we suddenly realized it was Black Friday. Halfway through I sobered up and had the sense to just leave before I maxed myself out.

Agreed! Honestly, I find more sales on the day after Christmas, or new years eve. That's where the sales are at eyebrowes.gif Of course, this is coming from someone who doesn't wake up early to shop anyway. I come back empty-handed 75% of the time I go shopping at sales though. The only reason I end up buying anything is because I'm buying for someone else or for Tonticles. sad.gif

We check out Cyber Monday though. :]]

But yeah, we should. Know any good bars in Albany? Troy kind of sucks, but one thing it does have is some pretty good microbreweries. There's a pub called Brown's in Troy that makes some great beers.

What's Black Friday?

The Friday following Thanksgiving. For YEARS, it has been a day where people can go out to the malls or electronic stores, and buy, what would normally be pretty expensive stuff for half or even 1/4 of their normal prices.

I'm sure there's more significance (maybe something in the bible...) but that's how most American's see the day.

sorry on* black friday.... I just hate if it's busy...
especially when kids just go in and just try everything in the store and never buy anything...
Plus the stealing is easier for them since there are going to be a shitload of people. People are going to go in and out of fitting rooms ripping out sensors. It's just hard to keep track.

isn't also the point of a sensor to keep people from ripping it off?

Apparently there are methods on how to remove them, someone told me to use magnets... Seems like the smartest way to go since you wouldn't be damaging the item.
Some people rip them, try to return it for cash, or getting store credit.

Those things are hecka easy to take off.

Also, those barcode that are sticky on the back, if you take them off, then rub them with a magnet, it will magnetize them and if you walk through a store, it will make the siren go off.
