For anyone who fully reads this, thank you very much and everything is sososo appreciated, :)

So basically, I'm the odd ball out at my job. I've caused lots of drama and tension accidentally between me and others, my boss seems to think that I do not do my job, etc. Nobody likes me except for this one person, who we will call person X.

Person X and I have become close throughout my time on the job. I feel as if I can confide in anything with X, person X makes me feel protected and wanted throughout my job, and person X and I have very compatible personalities-- we make each other laugh all the time.

Problem is, rumor is spreading about me that I have a thing for person X. Person X and I have a very big age gap, and I am one year underage, and I do not want to screw up any opportunities for person X, and I do not want people talking about me.

What should I do? Should I tell person X that I heard talk, and I do not like that person? What if they haven't heard the talk, and this is all news to them? What if they feel awkward? Should I just act as if I heard nothing nothing? (I'm quitting in a week.)

Thank you, cb! thumbsup.gif

address it constructively! if you become defensive, depressed or irate, your behavior will seem to confirm the rumor. you will seem to have been caught in the act.
acknowledge the existence of the rumor, and address it seriously. remember always that the people who believe the rumor might feel criticized if you dismiss it as transparently false.

despite the fact that you feel your boss dislikes you, i would ask him/her how to deal with the rumor in an effective manner.

I appreciate all the advice given! Only thing is, I don't know if my BOSS even knows the rumor :P Heheh. He's kind of last to know everything. _unsure.gif

Why would you say anything? What kind of job is this? I would say nothing. Even if you did like the individual, you're leaving in a week anyway. There's no conflict other than your age.

lol. this story made me laugh,

forget person X, report him to human resources for sexual harassment, impress your boss and other worthy coworkers by doing better and maybe giving them some "becky".

works like a charm, and people will start to notice you in your job.

warning:

this may cause you to turn into a temp or whore at work
