http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comment...to_img4chanorg/

f*ck now i have to go get Comcast.

So um with that said, How long do you think this ban with last before anonymous tears AT&T apart?

If thats even possible... AT&T is pretty damn stubborn, they one time turned off my internet 3 days day before my payment was due and they wouldn't turn it back on until i gave them my credit card number right way rather then turn it on and wait for 3 days so they can go get their money via direct deposit.

Your thoughts?

Sounds retarded. I'm with the headline of that article. It's censorship of the internet. And we aren't in China so, we should be able to post whatever the hell we want to.

AT&T is going down. The kind of publicity they're getting is enough to rip the average company to shreds. Most of Anonymous was already planning an attack within five minutes of the first report.

Internet censorship is what got Anonymous against Scientology, if an entire religion can be destroyed the way it was, then surely they can take down a company.

Good. 4Chan is a cesspool anyway.

Although the news stories are mostly inaccurate. AT&T wasn't censoring 4Chan; 4Chan was experiencing a massive denial of service attack, and AT&T was blocking access to protect their network (temporarily).

Everyone on 4Chan wants to believe that the whole Internet is out to get them, but mostly the Internet doesn't give a shit about 4Chan. I mean, really, how much do you care about a mole on your ass?

I really wish 4chan was censored. I'm tired of you little kids thinking it's cool to be the way you all are. I hate your parents for creating you and giving you the internetz.

lol @ trolls and anti-4chan lecturers

The AT&T raid will ensue. It will be hilarious. Self righteous convictions on both ends won't change the reality of this entire situation.

/b/ is the ***hole of the internet. But /b/ has a habit of collectively shitting on people that prevent /b/ from being, well, /b/.

Censorship of the internets is no fun. Hell, the simple fact that we pay for internets to begin with is a problem within itself. But that's neither here nor there. AT&T blocked it, and the CEO's info was leaked all over the anon interweb. People will have their lulz, and others like Danny and Michael will just be annoyed over something they can't control.

This, too, shall pass.

Honestly, I could give a shit either way. "/b/" seems entirely too self absorbed and narcissistic for me to give a damn.

Of course, I don't agree with any isp banning any site (which according to Michael, didn't really go down that way anyway). This seems to be another excuse for "/b/" to whip their cock out.

4 chan lectures? Lets be serious... little kids go on 4chan and read/look at all that stupid shit that's more for twisted adults.

I still stick to my guns when I say that internet censorship should exist. Why? Because parents are having a serious hard time keepin their children from viewing just a quarter of the things they view on the internet.

And your "paying for internet" statement is f*ckin retarded.

From the horse's mouth:
QUOTE
Here's what happened:

For the past three weeks, 4chan has been under a constant DDoS attack. We were able to filter this specific type of attack in a fashion that was more or less transparent to the end user.

Unfortunately, as an unintended consequence of the method used, some Internet users received errant traffic from one of our network switches. A handful happened to be AT&T customers.

In response, AT&T filtered all traffic to and from our img.4chan.org IPs (which serve /b/ & /r9k/) for their entire network, instead of only the affected customers. AT&T did not contact us prior to implementing the block. Here is their statement regarding the matter.

In the end, this wasn't a sinister act of censorship, but rather a bit of a mistake and a poorly executed, disproportionate response on AT&T's part. Whoever pulled the trigger on blackholing the site probably didn't anticipate [nor intend] the consequences of doing so.

We're glad to see this short-lived debacle has prompted renewed interest and debate over net neutrality and internet censorship—two very important issues that don't get nearly enough attention—so perhaps this was all just a blessing in disguise.

Aside from that, I'll also add that there is some big news due later this week. Keep an eye on the News page, Twitter, and global message for updates.

As always, I can be reached at moot@4chan.org.
