I have always wondered how some of the people on here have become these higher positions.

They are chosen by other staff members to become staff. Staff is chosen by certain guidelines like if they can handle situations calmly and if they are experienced in a certain field of design. You can check out this topic for a good reference. thumbsup.gif

There are two ways to become design staff. The first is something that will always happen here at createblog. And that is backstage/boardroom other moderators will suggest members that stand out from the rest whom they think will make good staff members. This has been the case with the last 5 people hired. The other method to getting on staff is to wait for a hiring topic. Granted, they don't pop up very often, but it gives everyone a chance, and as long as you are knowledgeable, and have had a decent amount of experience as a member on createblog, you should apply to the topic (when it comes up). Right now, I doubt that createblog will be hiring for any design staff positions. But if you stick around, it should come up sooner or later. For the higher positions bit like headstaff and designstaff. It is considered a promotion, when the upper staff feels like you can take more responsibility, and help manage a larger portion of staff duties.

Most of the DSers we've had that I can remember, they posted a lot in the Resource Center, helping out with MySpace Support questions, in Graphics Help, and things like that. Usually, but not always, they would also have at least a few high-quality resources submitted to the site. Just be active, preferably in both the Resource and Community Centers, and show that you care about CB, and eventually a staff member will notice and bring you up.

^ Pretty much this.

We nixed the hiring threads quite some time ago. It's not very difficult for staff to spot someone who stands out, since createblog isn't as active as it once was. All you have to do is help out in the support forums, give good critiques in the showcase booth, etc. and if someone brings your name up in the Boardroom you will be discussed. If you think that you already do stand out, you can always PM an Admin or Head Staff member and that person can bring up your name to the rest of staff.
