what systems does blu-ray work on other than ps3?
i recently got ps3, so i was able to watch final fantasy advent children complete blu-ray, it wouldn't work on any of my DVD systems which was annoying. so wondering, blu ray only for ps3 or what? -- Moved to Technology. |

I believe that the only console compatible with blu-ray is the PS3, unfortunately.

Do you game frequently? The reason I ask is because if you do, and prefer HD/blu-ray format than you probably don't have many other options.
If you don't game frequently, you could invest in a stand alone blu-ray player. Hell, there's blu-ray players out there now that can stream NetFlix, if that's your thing. edit: I was under the impression that not all PC's are capable of playing blu-ray, but I could be wrong. I typically leave the tech stuff to the boyfriend. |

I'm guessing new PCs usually come with a blu-ray drive, but I don't think you want to invest money on another computer when you just bought a whopping PS3.
In what particular reason did you buy the PS3? They have great games, you just need to browse through the catalog. If you're a hardcore gamer, then the PS3 is like the perfect console for you. Graphics, online gaming, massive storage, Blu=Ray disk, chat, web surfing, accelerator-type controller, what else could you ask for? There is also a major difference between Blu-Ray and a regular DVD player. The graphics are much sharper and the colors brighten up more. For some reason though, I think the lighting is also a bit better. You also get more content than the regular DVD version. However, I'm not a big fan of going through all the features from a DVD unless I'm really bored or have time on my hands. If you have a more larger amount of regular DVDS, the Nintendo Wii is capable of playing dvds if you homebrew it. ( There's a much more easier way than Twilight hack, btw. ) But, the Wii is targeted towards the younger / family crowds, so it depends. Xbox 360, you can play DVDs, but not HD-DVDS or blu-rays. so it's limited. I think the Xbox360 focuses more on single player styles, so it depends on your taste of style. It really depends on what your console will deliver for you. If you're a die hard game fanatic, the PS3 is for you. If you're more of a laid-back adventure type, I guess Xbox 360 is right for your style, and if you just want to have fun, the Wii is perfect for you. Since you bought the PS3, I think you'll get the most out of these current generation consoles. /end rant |

i've been playing infamous here and there, but i'm not getting into the plot, anyone wanna offer some ps3 games that MIGHT BE FUN for a boring person like me?
i like mystery games, murder, mature but also cute/childish games, must have blood, night creatures or nighttime games, funny games, puzzle stuff, yeah i'm boring, i dont' like to be attached or play eye lvl games like left for dead. left for dead scared the shit out of me! fat princess is kind of fun but ehh. i thought about getting devil may cry but it too much of the same story, after playing DMC 2 in ps2 & watching the anime, i didn't want anything else to do with DMC. btw, thanks for all your help so far, i'm thinking i keep my 3 year old computer without blu-ray and move on with ps3, OH ANOTHER QUESTION: i got the ps3 that has 2 inputs, its the newest model that WON'T ALLOW PS2 OR PS1 games to be played, i'm wondering if i return this and get the ps3 that allows ps1 and ps2 games on it, will this old ps3 model work with the new controls coming out in the next year? you know, the wii like controllers and camera |

well.
you' can return your ps3, but you're not going to be able to get the old ps3. they DISCONTINUED making those models, which i'm actually disappointed. so much for backwards compatibility eh? the graphics didn't look that good on the older ps models on the ps3 anways.. try looking on ebay to see if you can find older versions of the ps3. i can't really give you guaranteed games that you will like, but GAMESTOP / PS3 has different genre sections of games for the ps3. look into the PUZZLES & CARDS, STRATEGY, ADVENTURE, or RPG games i guess, since you're not into action packed games? |

if you like fighting games, blazblue is out, and there's also soulcal4. for cutesy games, there's little big planet and noby noby boy. i enjoyed playing re5 demo, so the game would probably be decent. then there's the typical fps/war games with the resistance series/fallout/cod series.
QUOTE yeah that's what i think too, but i was hoping of some way of uploading it on my computer, but man, ps3 really sucks, i don't like it, after watching the movie just for 1 hour, my eyes were hurting so much, not a ps3 person. more ps2. why does blu-ray have to be so dogdam special! what kind of tv do you have? it matters. trumotion is also a factor. i won't get into the technicalities, but for example, my friend hates playing on her ~42"(?) samsung 'cause she claims it's "too sharp", and she prefers gaming on a ~20"(?) that only shows in 720p. my sony bravia is less sharp, and i do like it, but sometimes i prefer the sharpness from her tv. i also have a rear projection tv, and the image is wayyy less sharp, but it's still comfortable to the eye. but anyway, you don't have to get bluray ;o you probably have more than a decade to stick to dvds if you want. |

f*ck yes! Blue ray is still far from the "standard" so to have a blue ray drive in your PC, you must of got the beefed up desktop or laptop. Some do, but most still just come with regular DVD burners. The whole NetFlix streaming deal is kind of over rater, yea it's cool to have, but you better be rocking Verizon FIO's because it took me forever to load a movie when I was back in the stats, and I have 25 meg download and 5 meg upload for my internet connection. |
