Just use your Lasso Tool to cut them (make your selection [hold down "shift" for straight lines] and hit "delete" after) and then add a drop shadow (double click on your layer and mess with the drop shadow settings).

Orbs? Yeah. Make a new layer above your image, select your color, select your Brush Tool (B) but make sure the hardness is set to 0 and then add the brush. After that, place the blending mode to... screen, I think.
