According to IGN.com, Apple has been in the works with a Netbook that has a 10.1 - 10.2 inch display that is ALL touchscreen. Apple has placed direct orders with 3 manufacturers, to make the components that are needed for the new Netbook.

"July 13, 2009 - During Apple's Q2 earning report, Apple's CFO, Peter Oppenheimer responded to persistent rumors of an Apple-branded netbook, stating that the company had "some interesting ideas in [that] space." However, Oppenheimer was careful neither confirm nor deny any possibility of Apple bringing such a product to retail in the near future, still, that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from churning fervently at the prospect. Today the internet was ignited yet again with Apple Netbook fever when a report from China Times stated that several Taiwanese manufacturers have begun producing components for a forthcoming Apple netbook set to debut this fall. "

As you can see, it has a Camera on top of the display, which is included on all the new laptops and monitors now..

I think at this point, most macrumors are just speculation. Apple will still come out with something very nice, but it may be different than what may be expected.

How are you suppose to do your work on there ? Have it on a stand or something?

The keyboard looks like it takes up half of the screen... I'll be waiting for a macbook instead.

I don't see how MAC will come out with full blown MAC OS X on netbook hardware. Their OS is simply to bloated to run on an atom CPU and integrated processor. Notice how Vista isn't installed on any of the netbooks. Granted MAC OS X is lighter than Vista, it's still a giant. If Apple could have delivered the MAC experience on a netbook, they would have done it already.

Meh. I'm not a fan of the whole netbook thing anyway, so I don't really care.

Although I doubt this alleged Apple netbook + tablet PC will look like that. If there's one area where Apple shines, it's in usability and user interface design, so I'm sure whatever they dream up will be more usable than that.

P.S. It's "Mac", not "MAC" -- "MAC" is a cosmetics company. wink.gif

^ Exactly. That same "prototype" has been floating around since the iPhone came out, as speculation of what a Mac netbook would look like.

BTW, don't they already have a netbook with the Macbook Air?

Sort of, but the Air's too expensive to really be in the netbook market. Plus from what I've heard, this is supposed to be a netbook/tablet PC hybrid.
