I just started working on a new project yesterday, a site that compiles the best web site designs, logos, everything. This is what I have so far...it's incomplete, but I'm looking for feedback on the good, the bad and the ugly. Nothing on it works right now; it's just my first draft of the design. I also haven't checked it in any browser but FF 3.0, so I'm not exactly sure how positioning will turn out.

It looks fantastic. I love the rollovers on the top links....they look really cool if you go over all of them really fast (easily amused).

Looks great, but it seems like it would take too much effort to maintain. You know, getting permission to use copyrighted works on your web site?

Love it. And its bookmarked because that is something extremely useful. And if you dont mind im gonna study your source code.
The only problem I have is that, you say we and us. But you are the only one running the n site. Everyone does that and i hate it. But i understand why you do it. but i would avoid it. |

If you put up any kind of front saying that you have a team of professionals. I do believe Gregg has a partner though. |

You're right. I definitely would choose the professionals. I just think it looks dumb when something like "we have added a new image......." when you know that only one person added that thing. It looks dumb to me :3 It doesn't take two people to put an image on a site :3 |

Well how old is gregg? To me, saying "us" and "we" will make it more obvious that he is a 11 year old in a basement surrounded by servers, where as if he just said I, and put it out plainly but got across the fact that he was a mature, new emerging design then he would look more professional and he would get the credit.

Hoooo...no need to rape my topic with a back and forth debate on singular and plural.
 For those of you who wonder: I started Fixtatik with Gregg. Bad idea. He ripped me off and put a bad name out for me (though if no one here has heard about it yet, that's a plus). He's no more, and I haven't even been able to email him or get him on the phone for about two months, so I've given up. For personal things, I'm Elia. I'm 22. That's it. Fixtatik is currently 2-3 people; myself and two others I keep on a commission basis for certain projects. I plan on hiring more in the future as permanent employees, so "we" really is "we." "We" is plural for Fixtatik because it's a team, and for You Inspire Me, because it's a community. I'd never put "we just added an image," because yes, it does look dumb. If I had a blog for either site, and I was writing an entry about something I did, then I would use "I." There's a time and place for everything. "We" comes off as more professional when I'm dealing with people who are hearing about Fixtatik for the first time. Regular visitors, people I've already dealt with, etc., I would use "I" in a blog because it's more personal. The idea is to let people know you mean business by describing yourself as a team, then give them a touch of personality once they've worked with you for long enough. |
