i finally made one. I didn't add the content in the "you" section yet.

(if you hate anime, don't comment and say you hate anime!)

I think it looks pretty nice. I just wish it was a bit bigger because it seems a little crammed. ermm.gif Otherwise, good job. :)

Despite my feelings toward anime, I think this looks very good.

The only little critique I would give would be that I have to highlight the black text in order to read it against the dark texture underneath. Well, I mean I don't have to. If I sit up I can read it just fine, but the color could be changed to make it easier.

edit:

also, I wish the word 'menu' was more standout.. ish. Cuz it's hard to see biggrin.gif

I really like the image, but I'm not too crazy about the font you picked for your headers or the way the links look. I also feel like there should be a border or something around the image.

Ditto.

Not a fan of using a div as a website, because it feels so not complete, and the nav blends in to much. Like it should have it's own section if you know what im talking about. But I like it. And you have made a lot of vectors they are really good!

And how you showcase your work is great, but it's a little difficult, opening a image closing it and opening a new one.

Might I suggest you use lightbox 2:
http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/

You may have ssen it on a lot of sites. It's easy to set up and it looks good and you can click on a next button to go through images can page.

At somepoint I hope you do a full website makeover, and make it A, not a div, b put the banner on top, and c try and choose friendlier colors, or less personal ones.

Ok, just to get this out there, it doesn't matter if a person is using a div for their website Joseph. It's their website and they can do whatever they want with it so stop trying to force or tell people not to use divs. kthanx, bye.

I agree. Also it looks a bit odd how there's a div and then background color. Like they're so separated, you know?

This is the one thing that stood out to me. Otherwise, I think the image is great (as usual).

I think it's a good start, but maybe not for a portfolio. It looks more like a blog layout full of fandom, to be honest. It would look much better if the design blended into a tiled background, instead of just being slapped onto a colour that kind of doesn't match anything...

At places the text becomes a bit muddled and hard to read. Try editing the image to make that section noticeably lighter in colour as a background to the content spot. Just don't make it blunt edged, be very soft - you can even use brushes to add blending texture over the base.

The one image on the top just sort of... cuts off. Try blending it in smoother so it looks like it's disappearing, not like you ran out of picture to use. Or you could try extending it (omg photoshop skillz) past the original image.

Try putting the menu into the design itself and using either rollovers or at the very least an image map. It makes everything flow more smoothly.

Also - it's YOUR portfolio! No need to have a download section (unless you want one in which case, disregard this last point).

Again, I think it's a good start but you've got a ways to go before it looks like a portfolio. Don't give up, you'll get it! thumbsup.gif

thanks everyone for your suggestions.
dee, i haven't seen you post here in a while too. Maybe now i could see yours.

With this layout, it's very hard for me, bc i haven't made a iframe (not div) layout in years. And the toughest part was to blend in the background. Plus i'm so used to making div layout.

As far as text, header and links, i just wanna make it simple.

Isn't "lightbox" almost similar to what i'm using. With lightbox, you click close. With this pop-up, all you need is to click on the picture, and it closed automatically.

also, i wanted to have a "download" section, to offer more than just my arts. Otherwise, i feel it's not enough when you visited.

Your pop-up script or w/e you are using isn't working. I click a picture and it just opens a new tab on Firefox. I think the blog entries might be easier to read if there was some sort of background on your blog entries perhaps something with the opacity from 70-80? I don't know but it would be easier on the eyes if the text had some sort of background behind it.

Well, actually, the blends and vectors sections work but on the wallpapers section, it loads a new tab. I'm using Firefox as well. >_>

i couldn't use the same script for the wallpapers, bc it wouldn't let you right-click. And i want to let people to use that for desktop and such.

The lightbox script (the new one, lightbox2, I think?) lets you click on the sides of the image to go to the next image in the gallery or the previous one without having to close the window thingy (it's not really a new window). Just FYI.

And I love anime. thumbsup.gif It looks awesome. I have nothing else to add that hasn't already been said.

Hmm, I don't know. Hopefully it still allows you to scroll? I've never tried it with a huge image.

I've heard that when the image exceeds the desktop resolution or goes to the maximum resolution that it automatically resizes it. I'm not certain though as I have never even used lightbox. _unsure.gif
