It's nice to see that he actually has talent. That being said, this song is so cringe-worthy. I listened to it in the car the other day with my mom and she was kinda bopping along, completely oblivious to the fact that he was singing "Birthday sex, birthday sex, birthday sex."

Hahaha I couldn't agree with you more. That reminds me of the time I heard my mom singing all the words to J. Holiday's Bed. sick.gif

Foolish mistake, possibly, but I heard Diddy doesn't pay his artists the way they are supposed to be payed. Recently I heard Young Joc was suing him for royalties. So maybe your friend realized that. *shrugs*

It's not just the royalties, he doesn't market his artists right. The only ones that get publicity are those on the Making the Band series.

So the song isn't about the girl, it's really about the guy, how he's feining for some ass, and he's coercing the girl to give him ass on her birthday.

Great. Same shit, different tune.

No, you're just presumptuous. Just because something is mainstream doesn't make it bad. Just because something is underground, that doesn't mean that it's good.

Guilty Simpson is underground, but he's f*cking boring to me. Lupe Fiasco is now mainstream, and I can listen to his music all day.

No.. it's because this song really f*ckin sucks and doesn't differ from any other artist with the same ass message.

I'll admit, home boy has a good voice... his lyrics is no different.

That's the scheme of the music industry. f*ck what they been through, we just want their voice, good (over used) beats, and OUR content, OUR lyrics.

The song name should be, "I'm feining for ass, so give me some birthday sex on your birthday, because it's all about me"
But whatever.

lol Guilty Simpson isn't even underground, he's made a few tracks here and there with a few underground artists, that's it. Mainstreams don't even know what underground is about .. HA!!!

How is Guilty Simpson mainstream? Seriously. That's like saying that Percee P is a household name. If you're an independent artist with a small fanbase and no broad exposure, you're considered underground. Are you referring to an artist's style? I don't understand how you're making the distinction.

Jeremih is certainly no Raphael Saadiq. If he actually did write better music, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Nonetheless, he is talented. I'm certainly not playing the piano and singing tenor on youtube.

I'm not claiming he's mainstream.. but he's not underground. How can someone claim to be underground with the same ass message of the mainstream.. that's just f*ckin retarded beyond this galaxy.

An independent artist doesn't mean they're an underground artist. Independence doesn't mean much other than liberation, freedom (specially of speech), and makin full profit. There is no contract that binds the artist to anything, like coca cola for example. Does his content meet the criteria of what is known in the underground? Nope. His content meets the criteria of the mainstream, only thing he's done is add underground artists to his music.

Underground isn't just about style... and it's not the primary criteria. Content is the primary criteria. The beauty about the underground is... is that it's never repetitive, every single individual has their own content.

From that perspective, I see what you mean.

But here's a paradox; Skillz, the ghostwriter/producer/emcee who satirizes mainstream rap music could be considered underground. When splitting hairs that much, it becomes a matter of opinion.

Whatever.

With the repetitive message. Let me ask you... if I sat you down in front of a T.V. for how ever long you've been listening to music (with more than likely the same message), and I made you watch Barney (sp?) for that many years, consistently, over and over.. Would you not go out of your freakin mind? Cuz I'll tell you what, I'd blow my own head off.

Anyways, I randomly decided to listen to this song already knowing what the content was gonna be (obviously it's about sex), I'm just amazed how easy it is now a days to catch the indoctrination that goes on.

I can only imagine, as usual, men and women are going to use this pathetic noise they call a song on birthdays just to set the "mood" lol...
