It's happening frequently now, has happened a few times int he past. It'll randomly start clicking when I clearly have not hit the click button. No external mouses/keyboards plugged in, just the power cord. It seemed to happen when I loaded firefox, more specifically flash based websites. I tried Opera and Safari, same problem. Then I'd quit those programs and it would stop. It may or may not have happened without them open, but I don't really notice it if it's ever happened.
Basically, when I have a youtube video on and I try to type something in to search, it ends up clicking like once every second or even more frequently so it'll always leave the box and I can't type, or if I go to the box it highlights everything I'm typing and I'm constantly overwriting it. |

this happens to me a lot, mostly only in messenger for me though. i think it's the same problem. it constantly highlights the letter i just typed so it's doing the over writing thing. my other friend, who also has a macbook has the same problem.

Man f*ck this shit. It's getting ridiculous, couldn't click anything for about ten minutes because it would be on auto hyper w/e click mode, even when i restarted or shut down for five minutes. Reformat inc

Rofl. Yeah I called up tech support and no surprise not really any help. I'm going to archive/reinstall the OS and if that doesn't work, wipe the entire thing. If that doesn't work, I'll just tell them to replace what's not working since they seem pretty apt with customer support in store.

I know you're pretty good with computers so I figured you had done that already, but no-one had actually mentioned it in the thread so I just threw it out there. I know that this occasionally happens with my IBM laptop because there is a scroll button I often hit by mistake while typing, but I highly doubt this will solve your problem as macs have very few buttons and those that do exist serve and easy-to-understand and specific purpose. Good luck, I guess macs aren't all they're cracked up to be. |

I disabled the trackpad, separate from the clicker, and it stopped. Option button five times + disable track pad when disabling the mouse clicking part does the trick. Now, for some reason, it won't accept my f*cking leopard CD. It tries to boot off it several times before ejecting it. I backed up everything so I'm just going to drop it off at the Mac store and say fix it.

Dudes so, I'm goign to the tech people in 30 mins. My Macbook is the 2.16ghz previous model, but the only ones they sell in the previous models are 2.00 ghz. They don't offer the .16 extra ghz option or I guess they just don't use it anymore, or something. The thing closest to mine without downgrading is one of the new ones lawl. Hopefully since it's (hopefully) a hardware issue and the CD drive isn't accepting my leopard CD, they'll replace it. Unlikely as it is, hopefully I can pick me up a new macbook out of this. looooool

Tell them you believe there is a short circut in the motherboard that's causing different components to go bad over time. Then they'll replace it for sure. |
