Right now I use Avg free and spy bot search and destroy. What do you use? Also what would you say is the best, even if you don't have it? I mean like a not free program. I have heard that Norton anti virus sucks. And I would consider a good anti virus software to be something that gets the job done but is light.

My main weapon against malware is intelligence, but as far as software goes, Avast and Search and Destroy.

Free version?

I noticed that avira covers worms but avg does not. Is that important?

Does spybot cover worms?

Yeah, that's basically how I rolled when I had my PC. Now that I have a Mac, I just.. don't give a flying shit. Even if Macs aren't 100% protected from viruses.

One of the things you learn in the IT world is alot of these antivirus can give you false positives and some work better than others. Even thought the antivirus companies recommend to use theirs only, I like to combine them since some update and fix issues faster than others.

lol.... the only reason why it gives a false positive, has nothing to do with the quality of the anti-virus. It is the file you downloaded, typically a "keygen" will more than likely give off a "false positive" on MAJORITY of anti-viruses, but if they're NOT giving a false positive, then that anti-virus is bunk or simply you need to update it. Hate to say it, but you're over loading for nothing. But whatever, to each its own.

No. Remember pifts.exe?

Norton gave a false positive for it's own file.

And no to what? You're the last person to talk about technology... or at least computers over all.

I don't give a shit if you use Norton or not. The entire internet was up in flames over pifts.exe, because Norton is one of the most widely used pieces of crap in existence. So many people use it that it's worth a mention no matter how bad it sucks.

And I was saying no to your entire post. I don't give a f*ck how much you think you know about technology, and until you get to the level of Linus Torvalds or Andrew Tanenbaum, you probably shouldn't brag about how "smart" you are with computers.

In fact, I'm sure you've used google to find everything you supposedly know about computers.

Even if you actually know about computers, you know nothing that the rest of the people in the tech forum don't already know. You contribute nothing but annoyances. Like Joseph when he first came to the tech forum.
