AMD is good if u keep it cool, AMD's over heat real easy. I would get an AMD since they are "faster" then Intels.

i like the AMD 64, but im running a Intel Caleron and a pentium 4 in my other computer, i would upgrade to AMD but, yea, it over heats to much, if they added a heat sink on it, it would be better, and also another fan, but im stickin with Intel

*edit*
if u were to get an AMD id get the AMD athlon 64Bit processor, it may be expensive, but i heard its worth it.

Just get an AMD Athlon 2600+ those are about 100 bucks right..and run at what around 2.2 ghz.......buy some bigger/faster case fans because the fan/heat sink they give u is about enough.....just dont expect to overclock that baby with the stock fan....

edit**
64 bits are cool but there arent many games/programs taht use 64 bit so you're assed out basically on everythign u want to use

a fan channel is basically directing the hot air towards a vent, where it can escape the computer, right?

I would probably get an AMD although they havn't released anything new from Intel except for the Tweaked P4 HT series that some custom computer companies sell. Maybe something will come out soon by Intel. In the mean time I will stick with AMD.

intel is dumping its traditional pentium....they are dumping "Tejas," its successor to the current pentium 4...they are gonna switch to Dual-Core Design...meaning it will work sorta like the new nvidia geforce 6800...ie if your current pentium 4 has 1 brain, in the future it wil have two. Both intel and AMD planned on this, but Intel simply moved its plans up a year because Windows Longhorn will run better with dual-core CPUs...Also, because they are dying due to AMD's huge Success with their new cards....

Intel is making a 64bit processor too, but i heard they reversed engineered an Athlon 64 to do it. Tsk tsk.

AMD has my vote. Most bang for the buck.

No, i think the 252 processor cray x1 is better. Yes, you read it right, 252 processors.

http://www.cray.com/

But i think at last check, Japan holds the record for the most powerful computer with their earth science super computer.

[edit] Here's the top 500.
