So I decided to change up my blogger layout to manage my space and organize things better :P It's kind of girly, but ok I guess. Anything I should change? There's little things about it that bug me, but I wanted to know if anyone else would notice or not lol

It's plain. In the right column, your "categories" are all very close together.

I don't think it's too plain. It's just kinda, idk, simple. The penguins are pretty cute though.

I agree that it's not the most original layout, but what's with all the negativity here? I think the layout is cute as a button, and I love the whole three-column setup business you have going on.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I know it's simple, but since my last layout was somewhat "cluttered" imo, I wanted to keep it as minimal as possible, while organizing all the content I wanted to have on here. I should have mentioned that before
I took the simplicity, color scheme, and pic from one of my old layouts:  I got the 3 column setup idea from http://nessasarymakeup.blogspot.com The background is something I was unsure of though, I know it's common, but I couldn't find anything else in my bg collection that would match colors and look okay. If anyone has any other backgrounds/suggestions that would go with my color scheme, please lmk! Also, I didn't know what I should do with the headers, so they are pretty unoriginal. I wasn't sure how to make them look fancier without making the layout look too busy. Also, I'm not sure how I should "make my content less plain?" In what aspects do you mean "content"? Like my actual blog content, or the way the text is set up, or the links, etc.? I know what you guys mean by plain, but I don't want too much going on; it takes away from the simplicity theme. too lazy to screenshot rite nao :P http://ectini.blogspot.com Took away part of the bg and added a tornish border... going back to the "scrapbooky" feel like my previous layout. Edited the banner a bit as well. Still undecided about the headers. Good/bad? I can't decide. |

Also, try setting the background to "scroll" instead of "fixed". Idk, I just don't really like fixed bg's.

It... looks weird, tbh. I like your first version better. I think that if you really want to keep the torn border, you should make it look like aeroangel's layouts. You see how her backgrounds are? I dk. I dk how to explain it. I hope you get me though.

I'm stuck between deciding what to do... go back to the 1st ver or keep/edit the second  Most people said the first one was too plain. But the second one; the torn borders aren't working out the way I wanted. I kind of like the look, and I get what you mean by making them like aeroangel's layouts, but I didn't know where to find a nice border to use x( Any suggestions there? I googled FOREVER and didn't find anything I liked. I'm going to fix the alignment later, but I guess the main thing now is backgrounds lol. I like the column setup, so I'm keeping that. But the bg is up for suggestions. So, anybody have any ideas of how I should make the background look or where to find a better pattern, border, etc.? |

Is it aligned now? It should be  Later on today, I'm going to take off the torn borders and make it like the original, straight 1px black border, except with drop shadows, and see how that looks instead. I might want to keep the torn borders on the outside though. I know they're a bit choppy, which is probably why the bg isn't looking too great :P I'll try to fix that and see how that looks too. I like my pink ribbon border thingy, so I'm keeping that :P Should I incorporate it anywhere else in the design? More suggestions welcome! update So I made the changes I said I would... I'm pretty content with where it's at right now (: but I'm still open for suggestions. |
