Have you ever been interested in tracing your family back to an ancestral homeland? Or for those of you who know where your ancestors come from, have you ever been to that country or are you interested in visiting?

I know, right? I can do part of it by myself as I can trace it to a couple of generations past my great grandmothers, but I need a DNA test to pinpoint what area(s) of Africa my people are from.

I found a website in Germany that has a lot of my family information on it. I'm on there too and so are my brothers and cousins. I can trace my fathers side of the family back to 1475, but my mothers family is hard to trace because she was adopted and only knows her biological mother.

My family history on my mother's side can be traced back a few hundred years. But only a few generations on my father's side.

You're not the only one.

Yeah, the bad thing is, the research, and printing is cumbersome, they have combined over a million pages of printed information.
Holy crap.

Yes, but it's difficult because I don't live in Hong Kong/China. So when people talk about family trees, I'm totally lost.

But like Yanlin, there's not really much to know in terms of location because they're all gonna be from Southern China.

^ Yeah pretty much what Gigi and Yan Lin said. But I have visited the village where my dad grew up... it was pretty interesting and sad to see how the living conditions there haven't changed much at all.

I know my family's all from Hong Kong and Guangzhou, and yes, I've been back to both places a few times. I miss vacationing there.
