From Wikipedia

GaGa was born on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, in New York City, to Italian parents. As a child, she attended the private Catholic school Convent of the Sacred Heart. Having learned piano by ear at the age of four, GaGa went on to write her first piano ballad at 13 and began performing at open mic nights by the age of 14. At the age of seventeen, GaGa was one of twenty people in the world to have gained early admission to the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied music.

GaGa started hanging out downtown, performing in the Lower East Side club scene with bands Mackin Pulsifer and SGBand. Finding herself surrounded by singers who all wrote the same style of music, she decided to do something fresh and provocative in the rock 'n roll underground: pop music. Her entrepreneur father was shocked when GaGa ran off to the Lower East Side to dabble in drugs and appear in burlesque shows at dive bars with drag queens and go-go dancers. "He couldn't look at me for a few months," she admits of her early experimentation. "I was in leather thongs, so it was hard for him — he just didn't understand."

In 2006, she started working with music producer Rob Fusari, with whom she wrote several of her early downtown hits like "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich", "Dirty Ice Cream" and "Disco Heaven". It was when she performed the song "Again, Again" for Fusari that she created the stage name, Lady GaGa, which is a reference to the song "Radio Ga-Ga" by Queen. He started calling her "GaGa" as a nickname around the studio after noticing she evoked the high theatrical stylings of Queen lead vocalist Freddie Mercury while performing.

I mean, I can't go anywhere without hearing "Just Dance" on the radio. I wouldn't call her upcoming anymore.

Just Dance is almost a year old... it annoyed me when I first heard it and it still annoys me now that it's mainstream.

Yeah I wouldn't call her "upcoming." I think her songs sound too similar. "Just Dance" & "Poker Face" have the same beats.

I really dont think that Christina copied Lady Gaga. Pop is such a generic sound... anyone can do it. And I think people cant criticize Christina's voice.. so they find other things about her to criticize.

But, I love Lady Gaga's CD. Paparrazi, Brown Eyes, and Beautiful,Dirty,Rich are really good songs.

^ I guess your right. But she has changed her "look" so many times, what other options does she have? Lol.. homeless look?

I heard her new look is "super hero," not Lady GAGA. But I really could care less what the singers do with their look.. I just like the music.

I remember when Just Dance came out like a year ago, and I was so interested in hearing who sang this song. I don't want to say I regret thinking this, but I just wish EVERYONE didn't always request it.
I can't stand Poker Face and most of her other songs, but I like Starstruck and The Fame.

I definately agree... She's a slutbag. Haha (sorry for the language). I don't really think she's all that attractive, but she's definately not "ugly." ^_^"

But besides that, I like her songs... My favorites are "The Fame", "I Like It Rough", and "Paparazzi"...

My 2 cents is that it is the type of artist image she wants to portray herself as. If you have seen any of her interviews, she's definitely into what she does with lots of creative control, so I guess it's just how she wants to market herself as - a risky-sexy-pop look where ... wearing pants don't exist.

HAHA. Your a tard.

Lovegame - "Let's have some fun,
This beat is sick
I wanna take a ride on your disco stick"

Disco stick = Dick

"I'm on a mission,
And it involves some heavy touchin' yeah.
You've indicated your interest,
I'm educated in sex, yes.
And now I want it bad,
Want it bad."

The Fame - "All we care about is, pornographic girls on film
and body plastic
Give me something, I wanna see television and
hot blondes in odd positions "

Boys, Boys, Boys - "Maybe this time, ill be yours you'll be mine
c-c-c-crazy, get your ass in my bed"
"Lets get lost you can take me home
Somewhere nice we can be alone
Bikini tops, coming o-o-off
"

Not to mention she is basically having an orgy in her "Poker Face" video.

Yes, so Lady GaGa does sing about sex a lot and her music videos do show her engaging in sexual activities. So what? That only shows that she likes sex and isn't afraid to show it.

Men have songs/MVs exploiting women too. I don't see you calling them pigs. Double standard much?

Not really, but whatever. I think people are overly judgmental, and like Joanne said, there's a total double standard.

Ummm she is not copying her style. she has had that hairstyle before if you havnt noticed go and watch "Aint No other man" and you will see her with that hair style just shorter and her music well its not that she is copying its part of her new scenary her last album "back to basics" was like an inspired album of music of the past and for her newer album that comes out this summer '09 its going to be futuristic kind of theme therefore a bit electric pop like lady gaga is into but no she is not copyin' her

I was talking about personal style not musical style, and so I present to you photographic evidence, courtesy of Perez Hilton (yeah, I know):

And there's a difference between a 1920's kind of flapper bob and a 1950s/1960s kind of wavy hair with bangs like what she did in the video and what she's doing now. Moreover, in the "Ain't No Other Man" video, it was just one look out of a few just for the video, not a defining, personal hairstyle. Just sayin'.

Same hair colour =/= same hair style. After Lady GaGa got popular, Christina grew her hair out (or stuck in extensions, who knows) and cut her bangs. Her hair in "Ain't No Other Man" was the same platinum blonde, but that was BEFORE she started copying Lady GaGa. Have you not seen "Keeps Getting Better", aka the height of her Lady GaGa'ness?

And I'm pretty sure Carrie only meant CA's style, not her music.

Edit: Damn, Carrie beat me to it.

Though I have to say Christina Aguilera looked really hot at the VMAs.

Love her hairstyle/color.
Love her fashion sense.

LOVE HER SONGS!
I love "SUMMER BOYS" the most.
You know she sounds JUST LIKE Gwen Stefani from that music.
