Grammys tomorrow! They're becoming increasingly irrelevant, really, but I'm still excited, especially to see who gets Best New Artist. I'm rooting for my girls Adele and Jazmine Sullivan.

Oh for sure ADELE. She has a fantastic voice. I've been hearing that Coldplay may win a lot of the Grammys (is it Grammys or Grammies? Grammys, right?). I was going to say we should do predictions but this list is soooo long.

Adele = throb.gif 19 was an AMAZING CD. Seriouslyyyyyy.

I wouldn't mind if Coldplay won. Viva La Vida was SO worth the wait.

Your first guess was right, it's Grammys. We can do predictions for the major categories: Best Record, Album, Song, New Artist.

Edit: So I'm reading all the nominees, right, and why the hell is Daft Punk nominated for "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger?"

AND WTF, ROBYN GOT A NOMINATION?! THAT ALBUM IS THREE YEARS OLD.

Best Record will probably go to Coldplay/Viva La Vida. Adele seems like the only other one who'd have a chance.

Best Album, i'm hedging, will be Coldplay again.

If Jason Mraz wins for best song..pffffttttt.

Adele should win best artist. Unless they give it to The Jonas Brothers. sick.gif

Edit: Once of Daft Punk's CD's is from '07. I thought it was just over material released in that year?

Alright let's do it!

Record of the Year
Who I think will win: Coldplay
Who I think should win: Adele

Album of the Year
Who I think will win: Coldplay
Who I think should win: Coldplay
(Wasn't sure about this one)

Song of the Year
Who I think will win: Estelle's "American Boy" (only because I heard it every 5 seconds on the radio)
Who I think should win: Adele's "Chasing Pavements"

Best New Artist
Who I think will win: Jonas Brothers (because well they had a good year)
Who I think should win: Adele

Nah, the Grammy has a long history of honoring old folks before youngins. I'm gonna give Record of the Year to Robert Plant & Allison Krauss. I'm gonna give them Best Album too. I'm hoping for a Lil Wayne upset though because that shit will be EPIC.

Best Song should go to Adele but other than Coldplay I don't find any of the other nominees objectionable. But "Chasing Pavements" is just a fantastically written song.

Best New Artist, please please please let it be Adele or Jazmine Sullivan!

Edit: You know what? Jonas Brothers shouldn't even be nominated for Best New Artist. Aren't they on their third album?

If JoBro win Best New Artist, I might not watch another Grammys. Ever.

On to more pleasant subjects, I can't wait to see Kanye, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and T.I. do "Swagga Like Us!" That has the potential to be amazing.

^ I don't know. I'm trying to find a list of performers but I can't.

Oh my god, I just read that M.I.A. is going to do "Swagga Like Us" too. She's SUPER pregnant. Like, her-water-might-break-on-stage pregnant. Oh! But in that same article, they mention that Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Neil Diamond, Radiohead, Coldplay, U2 and Sir Paul McCartney are performing so there's some people.

Edit: More performers: Adele, Chris Brown, Sugarland, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift (performing together), Estelle and Kanye West, as well as a Four Tops tribute segment with performances by Duke Fakir, Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo.

Edit: Ugh, and Kid Rock. Lame.

Justin Timberlake (wtf is he gonna sing? He didn't have an album out this year). And, wtf, Dave Grohl is gonna team up with Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, and the Jonas Brothers. And apparently USC's marching band is going to perform with Radiohead.

And Kenny Chesney, Jennifer Hudson, Katy Perry, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Rihanna, and Carrie Underwood.

How are they going to fit all this music into three hours? ermm.gif

Radiohead's performing! Finally. It'll be the first performance they've done in the US in 8 years. Dude, if they actually play 15 Step with a marching band at the Grammys I will piss my pants.

Apparently Stevie digs the JoBro. Seriously, not making that up. I read it.

Yeah, I don't get it either.

Edit: From the LA Times:
QUOTE
"The beauty of that," said Jack Sussman, CBS' executive VP for music specials, "is that Stevie is an icon that the Jonas Brothers look up to. He believes in them and their talent, and the audience will see that they are really good musicians, which they sometimes don't get enough credit for. You have to give them props for walking out there with him."
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog...y-countd-4.html

Edit: I just realized that Lykke Li ain't nominated for a Grammy. WTF.

Wait, what? I missed that.

Yo, seriously, how come MIA didn't get Record of the Year? I woulda given it to her because she's, you know, pregnant to the point of bursting and she STILL showed up. And is going to perform. And because "Paper Planes" was everywhere last year.

Although, really, I can understand that because that song is definitely not new.

What is up everyone Rye-No here a.k.a Mr. Movie King. I will be writting most of my blogs about movies since I have almost every movie you can think of. I also work at a movie theater and every Tuesday I am buying new movies. The only way I will not talk about/review movies is if a big story comes up involving movie actors or a story involving music and entertainment. Which is why I want to talk about the Grammys.

There were amazing performances last night but the most powerful performance in my mind goes to Jennifer Hudson. This was Jennifer's second (the first being the performance at the Super Bowl) performance since the tragic incident took place. One could not help but tear up in her performance because you could tell so hard that she was trying to fight back the tears. For her circumstances that she is going through she handled herself very well. For those of you who don't know what happened, her sister's husband came into her house and shot her brother, mother and nephew before taking his own life. Jennifer's performance ended to a standing crowd and her tearing up, it gave me goosebumps; especially when she won her award and "thanked her family who was looking down from Heaven."

There were many other great performances but the peformance of the night had to be Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, T.I and a very pregnet M.I.A doing their smash hit "Swagger Like Us." I was very shocked to see Lil Wayne actually decide that he wanted to do a performance! He is known to just "blow off" shows because he thinks he rules everyone and everything. For example: Lil Wayne was supposed to perform at Monster Jam (which I attended) on October 27th at the TD Bank North Garden. Lil Wayne was announced and the crowd started to go insane! His band came out with his DJ and they started playing some songs. However no Lil Wayne. Then after about 4 songs from the band and NO Lil Wayne the band just got up and left the stage. However the DJ stayed on stage. The crowd was waiting an HOUR and A HALF of just listening to music. If I wanted to just listen to music I would have stayed home and not paid the $93 that I paid for my floor seats! So after the hour and a half wait they announced that Lil Wayne was having security problems and that Jay-Z would be coming onstage in five minutes. It wasn't until after the show when I found out what really happened back stage. After talking with a friend who works at the Garden I got the run down. ALL artists needed to go through a metal dectector before they go onstage. Lil Wayne REFUSED to go through the metal dectector so the cops said they needed to search him. This angered Wayne as he said, "If anyone searches me there will be NO F***ING SHOW!" The cops said they needed to so Wayne just took off and ran back to his tour bus. Jamn 94.5 (the radio station that put on the concert) crew members ran to Lil Wayne's bus and begged and pleaded for him to come back. Finally after a long discussion Lil Wayne and his crew (Birdman and Bobby Valentino) came back into the building. This time Lil Wayne decided to go through the metal detector. However when Birdman and Bobby Valentino went through they set the alarm off. Now Lil Wayne was even more mad as he said, "Now you are disrespecting my crew!" The cops grabbed an angry Wayne and they found a loaded gun and a lot of weed on him. Lil Wayne and his crew ran back to the tour bus and took off leaving Boston for the night. Jay-Z had to come out earlier than when he was supposed to to fill in Lil Wayne's mess up. Jay-Z ended his set (he was the last performer) at about 10:27 pm. The show was scheduled to end at 11. So Jay-Z with help from DJ AM (the same DJ who was in the plane crash with Travis Barker) did an encore. It was AMAZING! He had no set plans because he already played the songs he had planned to play. He ended at 11:15 and it was crazy. The place was going nuts! Jay-Z saved the crowd from going into a riot by picking up for Lil Wayne's slack. That was not the only thing that Lil Wayne did to Jay-Z.

The next night Lil Wayne and Jay-Z were supposed to sing their smash hit "Mr. Carter" together in New Jersey. Lil Wayne was going to be on stage first and then his last song was supposed to be "Mr. Carter" so Jay-Z could come out do the song and then take over the stage. However, Wayne had a different plan. The SECOND song into Wayne's set was "Mr. Carter" which was sang an hour before Jay was even supposed to be in the building. During Jay-Z's part in the song Wayne just made up a diss about Jay. Needless to say they weren't on speaking terms. If you noticed at the Grammys Lil Wayne and Jay-Z didn't stand near each other nor did they high five or hug each other like Kayne and T.I did after the song.
