My mom, brother, & I were at Costco today & ordered a pizza. We always have the habit of "patting" the pizza with napkins to take off the grease. So we did it. And as my mom was doing it, this guy was just staring at us & probably thinking "Wtf are they doing?" But to us it's normal because well, it's a habit.

Do you guys eat certain foods a certain way? Like whenever I eat pasta with chicken or whatever, I always roll the pasta first & then get a piece of chicken. I dk why. And whenever I drink drinks that are high in sugar, like Sunny D & Cranberry juice, I always put a little bit of water first so it isn't as sweet, you know?

I've seen people do that to pizza before, siphoning off the grease. The first time I saw it, I probably thought it was weird, but I've seen enough people do it by now that it's no big deal. I also know what you mean about the spaghetti and the chicken. I do that, except I don't eat meat, so I'm picking up a piece of Tofurkey sausage XD.gif

When I was in elementary school, I used to slide the cheese off my pizza to save it for last. Now, I either fold or tear my pizza slices in half. Also, I will not eat a sandwich or burger until it's been cut in half.

Edit: You could've called this thread food habits =\

I'm always too hungry to do that to my pizza lol.

Umm, I roll my spaghetti on fork before shoving in my mouth. I don't know if its considered a habit but I drink my drinks REALLY slow, like I take tiny tiny sips while my sister like finishes hers in 5 minutes. I can never do that.

And I add water to drinks if it's too sweet too.

Speaking of sandwiches, I feel weird eating them without chips. It's like a burger without french fires. What I do sometimes is I put some chips in the sandwich & eat it like that. And have some chips on the side of course.

Wow I have some of the weirdest eating habits lol.

I'm like your sister. Kind of. I mean I don't chug the drink but I drink things pretty fast. My grandma, on the other hand, is like you. She takes forever lol.

I like rolling up my spaghetti on a fork on a spoon. If that made sense. Then I let go of the fork and eat the spaghetti from the spoon. It's much neater this way.

There's other stuff but I need to stop procrastinating.

Chopsticks are hard to roll with though, so I leave that technique for only when I have a fork + spoon handy, which is usually when I eat spaghetti.

Plus my mom would probably have a fit about how I'm eating azn noodles with a spoon LOL

Oh man, I CANNOT eat noodles correctly. I never order them when I go out because it becomes a war between me and the fork and the spoon and noodles that are always eluding me.

If I ever eat pancakes or waffles, I never put the syrup on them, I put it on the side of the plate. They get soggy if you put it on them.

Oh! Another habit: I dip my breakfast "sausage" in maple syrup. Done it ever since I was a little kid. There's something about the combination of sweet, savory, and salty.

I put syrup on them but also put some on the side. Because usually the waffle/pancake has absorbed the syrup by the time I'm half way done so I just dip it in my side syrup.

Oh man I know what you mean. It's so good. Reminds me of that maple McMuffin thing from McDonald's. I can't remember the name.

Today I noticed that I have to have my fork on the right & drink on the top left corner of my plate. It's all about balance.

When we make bacon (rare cause im jewish but its turkey bacon) we put paper towels on top and bottom as it microwaves to take out the grease.
Also we make a lot of dishes with ground beef and we are also big coffee drinkers and whenever we make ground beef when its done we pour the grease and fat into empty coffee cans and we have a bunch of them in the freezer. haha. and I do that water thing with juice.

Nah, they scared me before the vegetarianism. Cuz it's like... maple syrup and pancakes, okay. Maple syrup and sausage, okay. But pancakes, maple syrup, sausage, AND eggs? Nah, I'll pass.

laugh.gif same here.
I eat cheesburgers upside down, if that counts. I have to have chips in their bag, I don't like them splayed out everywhere. If french fries are too salty, I'll scrape off the salt. The list goes on.

If I eat trail mix with peanuts, raisins, and chocolate, I'll make little piles with equal amounts of each and eat them like that. Normally, only one chocolate per pile and then raisins and peanuts equally distributed.

I gotta try the salsa and grilled cheese thing. For some reason that sounds really good to me. I always put salsa and cheese in my wraps when I make 'em.

I only like chocolate milk. It's weird, I'll put milk in stuff and on stuff but I can't drink it straight... unless it's chocolate. And I never make sandwiches, I always eat open face sandwiches. (But I'm going to have to compromise when I try the grilled cheese and salsa thing.)

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and was looking for the introduction thread so I can properly introduce my self to the forum members, but wasn't able to find it.

Anyway, I've seen people do that to pizza and pasta, siphoning off the grease. The first time I saw it, I thought that it was weird. But I've seen many people do it and it's no big deal. I also know what you mean about the spaghetti and the chicken. When I was in my teenage years, I used to slide the cheese off my pizza to save it for last. Now, I fold my pizza slices in half. Also, I will not eat a sandwich or burger until it's been cut in half.:)

how did i forget this...? i eat my food in accordance to its colour placement in the rainbow.

so if i had an egg with strawberries, an orange and milk for breakfast, i would drink the milk first [white light comes before colour], then eat the strawberries, the orange, and then the egg.

I like weird stuff though. Like pepper in Pepsi and salt in certain kinds of ice creme.

I put bbq sauce on my chocolate cake. eyebrowes.gif .

When I eat cookies I put them in milk and crush them and then eat them like that. & with chocolate milk I take sips of it from the spoon and then drink some and put it in the freezer .

From what I understand, the already minimal budget at Food & Wine has been slashed, again, which puts a serious crimp on the features, writers, etc. that can be used to put together each issue.

Oh! Another habit: I dip my breakfast "sausage" in maple syrup. Done it ever since I was a little kid. There's something about the combination of sweet, savory, and salty.

I can't remember *not* doing that. :)
QUOTE(YukkaPukka @ Feb 5 2009, 08:08 PM) *
I do that with ranch Doritos and ham cheese and mustard sandwiches xD.
When I eat things like M&M's and Skittles, I have to put the same number of them on one side of my mouth as the other.

Totally reminds me of Breakfast Club.

I sniff everything before I eat. I have to smell it first, or I won't eat it.

well this sounds completely different then everyone elses, but when im chopping up cucumbers. I chop the ends of first and like rub it right where i cut it off from. Its hard to describe but supposadely it takes away the bitter taste some cucumber can have. If i dont do it i cant eat it.

Yeah, that's the best thing about Greek food, the cucumber sauce because it adds this bitter, yet sweet taste to the sauces.

how did i forget this...? i eat my food in accordance to its colour placement in the rainbow.

so if i had an egg with strawberries, an orange and milk for breakfast, i would drink the milk first [white light comes before colour], then eat the strawberries, the orange, and then the egg.

^_^
wow i kinda wish i knew the color spectrum well enough to be able to do this from memory

Whenever I eat Yoshinoya I eat the vegetables first with some rice, and then eat the chicken with the rest of the rice.

The bitterness doesn't come from the yogurt and the dill?

i always twirl my pasta and/or noodles onto a spoon, then put it in my mouth.
unless im very thirsty, i drink in small sips.
i like drinking the cup noodle soup.
when i eat dimsum, i wash the cups/chopsticks/bowl/plate with hot water or hot tea, then rinse it out onto a bigger bowl, which the waiters/waitresses will take away.
usually dont order drink during meals
eat the crust of the pizza first, until im holding onto a tiny piece of the crust, then i chew away at the other side.
do not share drinks.

  • Hmm. I do the same with my pizza. It's nasty having all that grease on there.
  • I also like having a wide variety of condiments lined up by my food, like ketchup, mustard, ranch, bbq sauce. I like trying different combinations.
  • When I eat curly fries, I like to eat the smaller pieces and save the big coiled ones for last. tongue.gif
  • I was taught to eat food with a spoon and fork. Basically, I use the fork to shovel rice and other food into the spoon, then eat it. There have been a few times where people are like, "I've never seen anyone do that before." or "That's weird." I never realized that a majority of people don't do it. I've been told it's a Filipino thing.

I have to eat all of one item at once. Like if I order a burger and fries, I always eat the burger first, drink half my drink, eat my fries, and drink the other half of my drink.

^ My eldest brother eats the burger, then the fries, and then drinks. It's odd that he doesn't alternate between them...

My mom does this. Whenever I'm at the dinner table, I'll use my finger and push the food against it so that it goes into my spoon or fork. I don't do that when I go out to eat, though. I always make a fool of myself when eating anything with noddles. The "swirling your fork on your spoon" trick doesn't even work for me.

Some of it does, sure. I guess it's subjective to personal taste interpretations, but I think that cucumbers have a bittersweet taste that really compliments the typical greek sauce used in things like gyros.
