Damn i've got quite a few but I'd have to say Nas.
He's an amazing rapper and he's always been consistent with his stuff.

Just off the top of my head I would have to go with the following (and mind you, I'm not a very well versed hip hop aficionado, mostly because of the lack of exposure):

Lauryn Hill
The Fugees (yes, the two are separate to me)
Digital Underground
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
Arrested Development
Mos Def (although obviously I haven't listened to nearly enough of him, as indicated in another thread when I didn't recognize him as a political artist ;))

i'm not getting it twisted but so what if you did think he was the best? saying that someone is the best is just an opinion. it's not like there some scientific way to figure out who the best rapper is. if there is, i missed it.

Lupe Fiasco is definitely my favorite. Common and Jay-z are up there too. they're so smooth, clever, and good with words.

favorite is infused with personal opinion. best is at least attempting to step back, look at the game, and evaluate various things. well, to me anyway. best and favorite aren't synonyms. there is no science, but i think if you have enough knowledge about the genre then you are able to step back and make real comparisons that aren't solely based on your personal taste. i am willing to call good music good, even when i don't love it. i don't think all music that doesn't appeal to my personal taste is bad music.

imo, kanye is not the best rapper, i think that is fairly obvious to people who know what they are talking about _unsure.gif he's my favorite though.

I couldn't watch 'cause my parents were having a dinner party, but you best bet I recorded that ish. I'm waiting for the right to watch, just some chill evening, haha.

Yoooo the stage look so tight though, woulda been tight to be there live.
