Is there something coming up that you're nervous about? Post it :D

My friend recruited me to be part of our college newspaper's design staff and tonight's my first night of training.

I've never worked for a newspaper layout before (excluding 7th grade) and I'm really not that confident in my graphic skills, so I'm literally trembling in my (really hot) shoes.

newspaper design should be cake compared to the caliber of design you do

it's bringing in new ideas to the table and implementing them into the default newspaper format is when it starts getting challenging

just don't forget to collaborate with writers/editors/photographers ^^

maybe i'm just scared because i'm forcing myself to meet new people and doing this means i'm actually gonna have to assert myself and put myself out there.

Driving. I swear every single day some terrible driver pulls out in front of me as if they're intentions were to drive faster than me. Unless you going 81 MPH on the highway , do not pull out in front of me and make me jam my breaks. verymad.gif Its scary knowing that someone is always going to pull out in front of you. Even in the city they do this ish.

I've been really careful about what I eat, but I'm worried that, with 25 days left, I'm going to slip up and eat something to f*ck up my intestines.

My pop culture class is a really bright, small room where the tables are arranged so everyone looks at one another. No one really talks even tho the teacher tries to get us into discussions in the class with eachother.
I get nervous every time I go to that freakin class. I hate being stared at and I hate walking into brightly lit, silent rooms. Its a fear of mine.

So basically I get nervous every Tuesday and Thursday. :(

Yes. Obama wants civilians to go to boot camp for 3 months (which by the way is 1 month more than any military requirement) and people are not realizing that this is pretty much breaking Constitutional rights.

and second, I'm scared that all these damn bailouts and stimulus package(s) are gonna fail within the next two months. I'm living in a country that I feel is being systematically financially crushed with all the money that's being printed and it not being backed by a damn thing. Pretty soon $1 is gonna be worth 5 cents. Imagine buying something that's worth $1 in production but having to spend $20 to purchase it? Ha... I feel that we're effed soon if things don't change.

Are you sure? I know Obama thinks every American should commit to some public service for a period of time, but that includes things like the Peace Corps instead of military service.

When Obama speaks of a "civilian national security force", he's not speaking of a military force, but rather, expanding the budget for groups like AmeriCorps, the Peace Corps, the USA Freedom Corps, etc. He has talked about making such service a requirement for all Americans, but military service wouldn't be compulsory -- one could, for example, elect to spend a few months with the Peace Corps.

No no no... outside of that. Did you listen to the video? That's his advisor.. this isn't China (no hate) this is the U.S. of A.

I did. I'm not sure if his advisor's quotes were taken out of context or not, because I haven't read his book, but I do know that the video takes Obama's quotes out of context. Obama has plans to enlarge programs like AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps, and he has at least talked about the idea of making such service compulsory, but he's not bringing back the draft or forcing military service. You can read more about the plan here and here.

^ Haha. Hey I'm gonna visit you this April! I'm gonna go visit some friends in Wilmington and I'm positive I'll be able to stop by and see you! happy.gif

Haha illmortal, I'm white so I'm good to go.

I don't really think of Asian and White being innerracial. I know it is I guess it just don't seem as big of a deal as say black and white. Which, by the way, I don't have a problem with. I dunno if that makes sense. Seems like Asian/Hispanic and white is generally more the "norm" than say white and black or Asian and Arabic.

But I'm still drunk from the bar so I'm probably not making much sense. XD.gif

I've had an Asian girl (I think she was Korean) who liked me in senior year of highschool. We got to know each other pretty well and hung out a lot... but one question she never asked me was, "what was my ethnicity". Well anyways, one day I was approaching her front door and I was speaking to my grandmother in Spanish, I stood there for a good 2-3 minutes speaking to her and I guess the girl over heard me. Well I picked her up and we went to a restaurant and she finally asks, "hey, what's your ethnicity" and proudly I told her, "I'm Italian/Dominican" and she asked, "Dominican as in from Dominican Republic" and I'm like, "uh... why?" And she flat out told me in my face that she doesn't get involved with Hispanics.

At first I was like: mellow.gif

Then I was like: huh.gif

Then this: blink.gif

Then finally: wave.gif

And left her bitch ass at the restaurant, which was a good 10-12 miles away from her house. After that, I never bothered to make an attempt on an Asian girl.

^ Hurray! Now I can say something related to the thread: I'm nervous about meeting Holly. I hope she thinks I'm coool. happy.gif
QUOTE(illmortal @ Feb 19 2009, 04:19 AM) *

Wooooooowwwww. That's stupid. Well I'm not gonna lie, Asian girls are what I'm into. Lucky for me I'm White haha. It just seems White is generally accepted by all races. I'm not sure why that is. I have no problem with any race dating any other race. It just seems socially that's how it flys. I've never been turned down by a girl of any race because I'm white and I never hear of anybody turning someone down cause they're white. I dunno where I'm going with this but you get the idea. I'm drunk. XD.gif

That's really stupid what that girl did though. It's ok buddy. console.gif Haha. Japanesee girls are where it's at anyway.

that's cause when I'm drunk I know how to still act normal (for the most part haha) and not like a drunken monkey. And I'm a firm believer in the fact that people who tpye lik disss wen int'oxiatd aare jus do ti fo.r attntionz. Haha it was harder for me to type like that as opposed to this.

o_O It took me a while to figure out what you were trying to say with that mess.

I can't even attempt to type like that, I don't get it >_>

You know I was just about to tell you to go to bed, but then I realized your 3 hours behind. Lucky you.

Good night wave.gif

^ I am too. Well, unless I know the person. If you're as fun to talk to as over the phone then I say you're wrong. tongue.gif Yeah we'll figure something out! Remember, I'm from NC too so I've grown up finding ways to cope with boredom haha. Not where but who you're with is what really matters. With that in mind, I'm sure it'll be fun! flowers.gif

Haha yeah. It seems like people typo every word when they're "drunk." I say it's BS and they do it for attention. Here I am, hammered, typing on an iPhone and it's all good. I guess I just have mad skills. aniwink.gif

Goonight darling! Have sweet dreams! I'll call you very soon, I promise. happy.gif

No, I absolutely hate Math. Only because I'm not good at it. I'm basically a god when it comes to English and writing, but I'm the polar opposite in mathematics. I'd like to be good at it, it's just not in my DNA.

I can't get the link to work.
