They can damage things like wings, rudders, or the windshield, and if a bird gets sucked into a jet engine (more common that you might think), it can totally destroy the engine. Consider the physics: A plane is flying at several hundred miles per hour relative to other objects, so anything that hits it is going to hit with a lot of force. |

The birds got sucked into the engines as the plane was trying to take off. How does it NOT make sense that it f*cked the plane over?
