Do you
also carry
around pepperspray
in your purse?
By the way,
carrying
a
weapon around
doesn't
constitute as
being manly.

Nope.
And I know. But it is part of it.
You can still be manly without it.

I see.
I don't
understand
why you
need to
have a knife
by your bed for.
Are you scared someone
is going
to rape
you in your
sleep or something? O.o
Or are you scared of this guy.

I don't have any weapons. But I could probably turn something into a weapon.

in the summer i took the vent cover off my floor and had it next to me the whole night.
I kept hearing some really weird noises and at some point where there was a loud crack outside my window around midnight.

Lol. It's not much a weapon, but I have a small wooden breast cancer bat beside my bed :D. My dad bought it to donate to Breast Cancer research so I just keep it there since I have no use for it. I doubt it would be of much use if anything happened, though.

If I got kidnapped though, I'd probably scratch out their eyeballs like a pansy :T

Are you serious, there saying windchill? I feel like a dumb ass.

I have a bat by my bed, no real reason though. If someone broke in I probably wouldn't even thing about grabbing it.

Um, we have a baseball bat in our garage. And maybe the really heavy flashlight downstairs. So really we have no weapons, except for cutlery and kitchen tools.

...I'm Canadian. shrug.gif I have never met anyone who owns a gun (that I am aware of). Our ideas of badassiness/manliness depend on other things entirely. Like, I once read on some guy's MSN screenname that he was selling a bulletproof vest. Which is cooler than a gun, obviously. Manlier though? I don't know.

Satisfied?

I guess there is the occasional angsty teen who is obsessed with weapons, or the gang member or two, but apart from that, what I said holds true (at least for me). I've heard of more knife violence than gun violence anyway.

Respect the shooter. It doesn't take much skill to take a round to the dome. It takes a lot more skill to fire a round to someone's dome while 600 yards away, in the rain, using iron sights.

The UN doesn't fire missiles at Israel, and the UN didn't declare war on Israel, so how is Israel justified in shelling a UN compound? The UN is in Gaza as a relief agency who is trying to help the Gazan civilians, who also haven't fired missiles on Israel, by the way. Israel attacked a UN post during their war with Lebanon, too, by the way.

Anyway, the whole missile thing is over-blown. Hamas' missiles rarely do any real damage, let alone kill anyone. Sure, they're still terror weapons, but you don't consider Israel firing chemical weapons on a civilian population to be terror, too?

You know what, you're right. And back in the 1940s, FDR didn't have any first-hand evidence that Hitler was mass-murdering Jews. Was he wrong to declare war on Germany?

Hm? No, I don't think I'm saying that. The UN is a multinational conglomeration of nations that seeks (or attempts to seek) peaceful resolutions to problems between nations -- at least in theory. They're not really "for" or "against" Israel per se; they're just (a) seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict; (b) a peaceful resolution to the Israel-Palestine crisis in general; and more immediately, © aid for civilians caught in the middle of the fighting.

I don't really know what "people" try to make Israel look bad. The American media (especially Fox News and the Associated Press) sure don't. American politicians don't. The BBC does paints a rather fairly balanced view of the situation, as do most European governments.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Hamas. But I really can't condone Israeli's bombing of civilians, etc.

If youve seen hotel rwanda, to me its seems like isreal is like africa and when they listen to the radio they wont say whats really happening.
Also you might want to read some isreally headlines. cause they often give a lot of info that other news stations wont.

I know there are a few sites but I forgot.

Edit: o and you mentioned isreal bombing civilians but hamas bombs more isreally civilians. My dad has actually gone to the camps where they keep all the homade bombs that have exploded in isreal and there are just hundreds and hundreds on racks.

That's how all news outlet is though. Not just Africa, or Israeli. It's in the United States too. The News Corporation works with the government. And what's being reported in the media is what government wants you guys to hear and know about. Government uses media as a social control mechanism.

If youve seen hotel rwanda, to me its seems like isreal is like africa and when they listen to the radio they wont say whats really happening.
Also you might want to read some isreally headlines. cause they often give a lot of info that other news stations wont.

I have read Israeli news articles (albeit translated into English, since I don't read Hebrew). Like American media, some are decent, some are heavily biased. It depends on the source; there's a stark difference between "Zionist" and "Israeli". A lot of Israelis actually disagree with the military actions of their government, as shown in their press. Even so, organizations like the BBC have offices in the Middle East, and are known for their excellent news coverage.

Anyway, since we were talking about missiles before, I thought this photograph would illustrate my point. The top half shows a strike from a Hamas rocket; the bottom, a strike from an Israeli missile:

Edit: o and you mentioned isreal bombing civilians but hamas bombs more isreally civilians. My dad has actually gone to the camps where they keep all the homade bombs that have exploded in isreal and there are just hundreds and hundreds on racks.

Here are the casuality statistics For September 29, 2000 - November 30, 2008. Note that these, of course, do not include the most recent violence.

You'll note that many more Palestinians have been killed.

I'm not arguing that Israeli civilians aren't targeted, but there's no doubt that the Israeli army is much better at killing than the Palestinian militants.

Ok well im definitely starting to see your point.
Even though the rockets fired from hamas werent as deadly they still tried and there intent is to kill people. Because all there bombs were homade.
And the isrely missiles fired were fired in defense. So our views really arent that different but I just think that palestines are the "bad guys"
Cause they declared war on Isreal.
O and im not questioning how smart you are! I mean you are 10 yrs older than me.
But ive just really seen whats happening directly not through new stations that could be twisting the truth. Cause my dad has close relations with one of the military leaders that stay on the gaza strip stopping palestines from braking through.

if your father works with the military in order to "stop palestinians from breaking through," don't you think his reporting of events would be inherently biased? don't you think he would be inclined to identify his militaristic enemies & targets as "bad guys?"

And back in the 1940s, FDR didn't have any first-hand evidence that Hitler was mass-murdering Jews. Was he wrong to declare war on Germany?

what the hell does "evidence that hitler was mass-murdering jews" have to do with a declaration of war against germany?

america didn't enter the war because of the holocaust; that's straight up middle school revisionism. really, as you slightly allude to, we had no idea of the true horrors & reality of the entire situation until august of 1942, long after we had already entered the war (after having been attacked by the japanese @ pearl harbor). & that only prompted a declaration of war against japan. if it weren't for the tripartite pact, held by the axis powers (sans the ussr), we may have never declared war on germany. further, what little whispers of second, third, fourth-hand accounts of the "final solution" our government & public received, we showed abundant apathy & antisemitism. for example, the ss st. louis. fdr was aware of the refugees, despite the absence of first-hand evidence of their likely-fate in europe; despite this, fdr sent them away. further, fdr refused to give visas, and showed no real initiative in saving the jewish population from nazi extermination.

so... your question is entirely bizarre & it's implications are ill-informed & false. you might as well have said that the north fought the civil war in order to free the slaves.

Bad example. I just meant to imply that because you haven't seen something yourself, doesn't mean it's impossible to construct a view of what happened based on evidence from others.

I actually realized after the post that the implication that FDR was hoping to "save the Jews" was flat-out wrong, and our entry into World War II against Germany was really a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which in turn opens up a number of complications in pinpointing a real reason.

ANTI-SEMITE!

Yeah, I'd actually wish for all Jews to be wiped off the face of the earth, except then there'd be no reason for Hebrew National hot dogs anymore, I suppose.
