I haven't had a use for the default Myspace Music Player for quite a while since using Project Playlist.

Now that Project Playlist has been banned from Myspace, I would like to go back to using the basic Myspace Player again. I have a Family Tree Slideshow in my profile and I prefer to have it running to a specific song that I picked out especially for it. But without the Myspace Music Player, I have no way to add music to my profile anymore.

At one point, I updated the layout theme of my Myspace profile and may very well have picked an option to disable the music player, as I was annoyed with it in the past. However, the player itself isn't turned off, I have checked that thoroughly amongst the options for Song and Video.

Here is the code that was used for the layout theme. I hope someone can identify whether or not the Myspace player was turned off with it. If not, I hope someone can come up with an idea for why the music player no longer appears, even after adding songs to the profile.

CODE

Try removing this:

CODE
table table table td {
!important;
}

If that doesn't work, please post a link to your page.

I think things are working now.

I don't know if removing that code actually did anything, but I just discovered that the Myspace people added a whole hidden options section to their Myspace Player. I decided to have a second look at the settings to check things again and found a link to the playlist area.

It kept telling me that I had no music in my Profile Playlist, when I knew for sure that I did. Turns out that when you add a song to your profile for the first time since their updates to the Player, it is automatically added to a "Private Playlist" area. You need to adjust something in there and switch the song or songs from the "Private Playlist" area to the "Public Playlist" area. Unless the person is aware of this, I imagine it would cause a lot of frustration and problems. I assume that you can pick the public list from then on when adding songs.

Hopefully this will serve to help people in the future. If Myspace would simply add this info to their already hidden "Help" area, things might go a lot smoother.
