bluehost, hostmonster or mediatemple? to pay yearly is a little too much for the first time joining any one of these, even if i heard they were good. thank you.

the hosts you listed are all payed yearly or more...
For those type of host try Drivenhost.com, Godaddy.com, their are more but u have to look: |

Hostmonster is the best! I use them. They have cpanel and dreamhost uses wep panel.
