or do you make your own happiness?

it's probably unhealthy but my happiness relies really heavily on other people.

spending time with people i like makes me happy, but when things don't go the way i want them to or leaves me unsatisfied, it can completely ruin my day.

maybe i should become a hermit.

zero contact is the answer.

I rely on others to make me happy.

But I can make myself happy to. Such as taking myself to go shopping alone. I'm usually happy then. ^_^

I make myself happy by surrounding myself with other people that make me happy.
So..it's kind of a circle.

my happiness is relied on my boyfriend and my family.

There was a time over the summer when my friend told me to not be so reliant on my boyfriend [which i can totally understand] but i cant help it... he just makes me happy; he's literally my best friend (aside from family of course).

It relies on others in the sense that I need to not be with anyone, in this context, to be happy. I don't get how anyone can allow another person to emotionally complete them.

“You are wrong if you think that the joy of life comes principally from human relationships. God’s placed it all around us, it’s in everything, in anything we can experience. People just need to change the way they look at those things.”

in contrast:

“Happiness is only real when shared.”

both from the movie Into the Wild

Good question.

Unless I'm shopping by myself, too.

Yes it does.
My boyfriend/family/friends have major influences on my happiness.

But not only can shopping by myself makes me happy but doing things that I want to, when no one else does or wants to do makes me feel happy too.

I can definitely be happy on my own since I'm often independent, but sometimes part of that happiness comes from knowing that my friends are happy, too.

After seeing this thread I've really realized that my happiness mostly depends on my boyfriend and best friend. I'm constantly worrying that I'll lose them and be alone again. I don't know if this dependency is a good or bad thing. It's probably both? I guess it's great to have people who you can depend on but if something happens you need to be able to be yourself. I'm very happy at where I'm at but I guess I just need to know that life would go on if they weren't there anymore..but I'm sure that won't happen. They are too awesome. :D

So yes, my happiness depends on others, and I'm cool with that-until it all crumbles..which I'm sure it will. All good things come to an end right?

Both actually. Being around people makes me happy but I also have times where I feel I need to be isolated from people and spend time to myself. I tend to do crazy things that make me happy, excited, and laugh that I wouldn't do if I was in front of people(typically dancing like Carlton Banks).

Happiness comes from everyone else around you.

make people feel happy,

you feel happy.

people try to make you happy,

you feel happy yourself they are trying to care for you.

my happiness relies mostly on my boyfriend.
like if don't talk to him everyday or see him once in a while, u'll see the difference in my mood.

i'm very cranky and i'm a bitch when that happens. nuke.gif

normally i'm a very quiet person, i like to observe things.

gah for me, of course my happiness relies on others.
But not all the time. If I see the ones I love so dearly, I'm truly happy.
Sometimes, I make myself happy to be happy for others so they can be.
Happiness can be brought to me completely from a happy person :)

It's a whole cycle of happiness.
i love being happy, but not all the time.

As an unemployed only child that is half homebody half social butterfly, it's a mix of the two really. I mainly create my own happiness if need be, but I like when other people make me happy & vice versa.

I'm happy right now. Not because I have friends that are like brothers or because I'm in a relationship that is unlike any happiness I've ever experienced, but I'm happy because I'm comfortable with me. Love, companionship, emotional support and encouragement are all wonderful and they contribute in making life worth living, however, we all must be prepared for the worst. Born alone, die alone. Everyone that I know could turn their back on me at any given moment. My family can die. I could lose everything that I own and be flat broke, alone, and miserable. Who will make me happy then? Nobody. So it's up to me to stay grounded in who I am. /rant
