I think he/she was talking about virus protection software. As far as free software, I would suggest Avast or AVG. If you want to pay a bit, I suggest Norton antivirus.

One sure fire way is too back up your files in safe mode then put linux ubuntu on it.
It will clear all files and windows xp and best of all it can get almost no viruses.

Bumping an old topic with bad advice.

Linux isn't the best choice for most Windows users.

I agree but it is always good to know about as a last resort. I had to do that on my cp cause when you have a crazy slow computer with tons of viruses! and no internet theres not much you can do.

Okay to Do a FULL SYSTEM RESTORE That removes all virus and Malicious Content then do the following:

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER
and then Press F10 When its at the HP Blue Screen that shows up first..
It will ask you to Pick the Time of Day to Restore your computer..May i suggest that you pick the week before it happened like before December 28, (im predicting thats the day it happened..)

If you make a file then do a system restore to the day before will the file be gone? Does it actually just bring it to a farther back time?

It brings everything to a restart, and if you make a file that is in the futre, then its will be deleted...

Thats why you Copy it to a flash Drive, or To a blank Disc...
