Do you think it would be beneficial for cB to host resources like Brushes, Textures, etc. submitted by our members? It was just a thought. We offer tutorials, scripts, graphics and layouts... why not resources?

Designers could come to one place to get what they needed for a design and then submit it to cB. I would boost submissions (hopefully quality ones based on quality resources) and encourage more web traffic.

I don't know how doable this would be...

What do you think?

The thread backstage is lost and forgotten.

We used to have this actually. A long time ago, in a far away place.

We totally did. It just died the last time. But we have different people here now.

I remember another topic talking about this, I think the biggest problem was that it is pretty easy to claim textures, brushes, ect. as you're own weather they are or not.

Yeah. Also the space & where to host it all was an issue.

Original thread here.

^ Yes, space. But boosted web traffic might make up for that in ad dollars.

I'm thinking more than brushes... textures, transparent pngs, psds, templates, the works.

Anyone can claim anything. I think it is the same for icons and banners. We've had jockers in the past, and we'll probably have jockers in the future. Just as long as we deal with them in the same way is all that matters.

We can't just shut down an idea just because it'd be easy to rip them from other places.

Sure some ideas would have to be worked out but still. It was an awesome idea.

I think it would stimulate more activity.

It's like a circle...

Resources > Inspiration > Design > Submission > Accepted or Rejected

If Accepted...
Accepted > People use the submission > More viral marketing for Createblog > > People check out the credited resources used > More Inspiration or Viral marketing by sharing with friends > ... and so on.

If Rejected...
Rejected > Visit Tutorials, Resources, and Forums for help > Re-design > Accepted or Rejected ... and so on.

So, any new thoughts on this? Yes, I'm double posting, but I don't want this to get lost in the amount of closed threads on the page. It's an important enough topic...

Backstage is dead right now. I think everyone is just pretty much spending some time with their families. Once it becomes more active, i'll bump it. And i'll be super annoying if need be. :DD

Well, I put a link in my signature to prompt people to read this... if that does any good.

We can be super annoying together, Kristina. I'll bump this when you bump Backstage. We should make one of those Jusun's Angels graphics again... Ahaha the good old days.

I think the idea is solid. Integrating it within the site would be nice, but the backend of the site's organization is a little weird. You can't search for multiple options at the same time, and you can't really make a detailed search within it either. But I would definitely like to see this site more designer oriented, than showcase oriented. (if that makes sense).. I'm sure createblog's servers have enough space to account for the added download it would add..

If we get the chance to have CB resources, would that take up space?

If we were to host things on CB's servers, the servers would be constantly failing.

We'd need to use alternative storage options, like what Nat said. Megafile, Megaupload, Sendspace, etc.
