Bruise. Options

Y'okay, so this has a bit of an explanation behind it. For my Art II midterm exam, we needed to pick a quote and turn it into art. I'm in the play Oliver! as Nancy this year and I wanted to kind of figure out my character, so I chose a quote from the song "As Long as He Needs Me". It's basically about her lover who abuses her, but she loves him anyway. The quote is:

"In spite of what you see, I'm sure that he needs me."

So I wanted to find a picture of a girl who was smiling and happy-ish, but with a giant bruise on her face. Of course, I couldn't find one, so I had to create one.

The contrast isn't working for me. There are spots that are way to bright and washed out while the bruise is too matte and weirdly opaque. I can see your idea though.

^^Yeah, I see what you mean. I may or may not fix that, since I don't want to waste too much time on the photo. :P

^ I agree, it doesnt look realistic at all. I would try adding a bit of a blue/purple tint and blend it a bit more.

i think the update is better, though it doesnt seem very real.

but if this is just a guide it doesnt have to be perfect than
