E-mail problems, helping a friend out Options

Alright this is going to be lengthy and probably confusing but please bare with me i could use all the help i need because all the things ive done havent worked.

My friends e-mail account and its the typical Name@hotmail.com
He cant get into his email though but he can still get on Msn chat and stuff because his password is set to remember.
I reccomended the stupid copy the stars and paste in a word document to see if that worked but it didnt (that was the third try i suggested to him)

I tried to do the rechieve password thing where it asks you the secret question and it was in a different language and thanks to melissa she was able to figure out what it meant for me but with all the providences and whatever ,and trying to punch the names in for potential answers, i can only do so much before it says that ive over exceeded on the secret question crap.

So then i tried the reset password thing only i did it from my account and was able to add his hotmail but it was aying it was an invalid ID.

So ive run out of other options on what else to do to help him. Can someone help me out please?

does he have a secondary/alternate email? when you sign up for a hotmail email, they usually ask if you have a secondary email and if you forget the password, they'll send it to that email.

Edit: So my friend decided to just make a new account, the only problem now is finding a way to cancel the account. Is there any possible way to cancel a hotmail account without having to be on the account?
