A few years ago, we had a thread regarding Mayan’s prediction about the end of the world, 12/25/2012

We’re heading to the date in four more years! What do you think will happen? Could anything happen right now could relate to the innovation of 2012?

Unless they find the skulls and align them at the precise time, we're screwed.

Or so says the History Channel.

I honestly have no idea wheather or not to believe this, because i've been thinking about this for about a year now, but i heard about 3 years ago that that a meteoroid was going to hit earth in 2012 unless we can block it with a missle...?

When the newest Indy Jones movie was coming out, they did this lovely documentary about those crystal skulls. There are apparently 13 skulls, only a few have been found, and if all of the skulls can be found the impending doom will not come.

Something like that. This was a long time agoooo. And my memory sucks.

Eh. I'll find a link.

http://www.mendhak.com/80-the-13-crystal-skulls.aspx
Read the first and second little section.

QUOTE
According to Mayan Legend, there will come a time when 13 ancient crystal skulls are reunited that can affect the Earth and the course of humanity. The story of Creation according to Mayan culture plays an integral part in daily Mayan living, so it is no surprise that the day the calendar ends plays an equally important role. This date is calculated as December 21, 2012 and there are many interpretations of 2012 Mayan prophecies.

I think it funny how people think it stupid though, because i'm not sure if its real or not, nor does anyone, but if it is true, why be surprised? The mayans had the earth under so close of a watch, that we use their techniques today, so why would it be that crazy?

Too bad there isn't more evidence that it's true. Otherwise there'd be a lot of illegal things I'd be doing throughout 2012.

Moved to Debate.

I demand you to put this thread back in the lounge now.

This is nothing close to the debate. This is simply an open-discussion about THOUGHTS, not really an argument. You didn't explained your actions, mod.

Reider,
i used the wrong word so I'll use this one, "phenomenon".

I've heard of that two years ago, about an object in space that is forming and is currently about to swirl around Earth and hit us. If they shoot the meteoroid with the "missile", bits could float around Space, which could even make it worse. I think they should use some type of Repellent to force it back.

^ It's not a mosqiuto. Repellent against an asteroid is easier said that done. Kind of. Weren't they working on a "Star Wars" type of device thingamcbobber that would take care of it?

But anyways.

Why is this in debate? It's more or less just information. Not debating anything. Except the date of our impending DOOM.

you all really believe everything you hear, yeah? i can understand that, yeah, maybe the world will end in 2012, but by a giant snake? you've got to be kidding me. if anything, i think we'd have a better chance at dying because of global warming, than to be eaten by king kong the snake.

You won't be saying that when I giant sank is coming after you. I'm pretty sure though, I heard that from some cracked out kid in my class soooo yeah.

And "Star Wars" was the name of a program started by a president to try and build a laser in space so if people shoot missiles at us we can shoot them down. Or something along those lines.

how does 666, 999 or y2k relates to the mayans' prediction?
who made these predictions?

it is a known fact that mayans' predictions are accurate by 99%/ 100%. Mayans never predicted any of the 666,999,and y2k. _unsure.gif

they were the one who predicted the 9/11 which came out true. mellow.gif

as for the 'starwars' thing, first of all ... hahahahha

i doubt it's going to work against a gigantic rock when it's designed to hit man-made missiles(and the sizes are not comparable to a big rock). laugh.gif

yeah, they were pretty vague but scientists tried to get a general idea out of it.

Do you know the descriptions for 2012? what's the website for these claims regarding the end of the world?

actually, the mayan's calendar ends at the end of the world, 12/21?/2012.

some mentioned that we're going to have a nuclear war.
if it does happen, America's at this disadvantage during this financial crisis. it's not going to be easy to bring us back up. rolleyes.gif sooooo, how are we going to have money for war?

Oh so you believe in the asteroid theory? that's the only that makes sense i suppose. its the only one realistic too, well ww3 is realistic, but we have control over that..and of course we get screwed with something we cant control -__-

QUOTE
There are 13 baktuns in one Great Cycle, or "13-baktun cycle", as it is also known, which is a total of 5200 tuns, or around 5,125 years. It started in 3114 BC and ends in 2012.

what i always found funny, unless im wrong. how come most of these prophecies are magically proven correct AFTER the fact. for example, after 911, we go back, look at the calendar, and try match some descriptions to the event, and come to the conclusion: "hey THATS what they meant! look!" -__- makes me skeptical.

i wouldn't say i believed it.
I'm simply enjoying every scientist's predictions so it can range from war, global warming, and to rock.
basically, i don't have a mind of my own. I'm absorbing these information for fun.

in conclusion, i just think something will happen to the world, not really the end of the world or we're get killed or smashed

get my drift?

as for ww3, we don't have control over it. every human's civilization is different so our beliefs are not the same as the rest of the world. a lack of understanding of each other will leads to potential problems.

yeah, the descriptions are so symbolic. it's funny how they used "2 birds" as the twin tower and the "2birds" are crashing "down".

interesting!
more details! please!

I'm currently studying economy/gov at my school.

about the war,
in ww2, America grew out of the depression because their homeland was safe. Germany's homeland was not safe because they were constantly under attack during the productions of weapons. did the production puts them in a good economy? No. it was widely damaged and "bleeding".

we dont know if ww3 will pull us out of the depression. war doesn't promise anyone out of depression because Germany had financial issues during the war.

QUOTE(Whinoa @ Oct 20 2008, 12:49 AM) *
interesting!
more details! please!

I'm currently studying economy/gov at my school.
about the war,
in ww2, America grew out of the depression because their homeland was safe. Germany's homeland was not safe because they were constantly under attack during the productions of weapons.

America only entered the war after they were attacked on their own soil, so no. There was widespread concern hitherto about potential involvement and to what affect the conflict would have on the U.S. Also, by definition, an economic crisis diminishes national security, so you're working with a tautological problem right there. How did America get out of The Great Depression by being safe when they weren't safe because of The Great Depression?

QUOTE
did the production puts them in a good economy? No.

It did. The increased demand for goods and commodities bolstered the workforce, whereas the New Deal only stifled the pain. There was a huge surge in industry during this period from the demand of equipment and new technologies. Most of the economy was being run as a command and control system with rationing and forced savings, which ensured a cycle of demand.

QUOTE
we dont know if ww3 will pull us out of the depression. war doesn't promise anyone out of depression because Germany had financial issues during the war.

That's because they were still suffering from the repercussions of post-World War I. Basically, everyone recognized that Germany was kind of dickish, so they placed economic sanctions on them, which overran their course and instigated hyperinflation. It's pretty much the exact opposite of our situation and the widespread dependence that foreign countries have on the U.S. economy.

In conclusion: make war, not love.

This things are always blown way too out or proportion.
At least, this is what I think.

Hey, did anyone her about the Federation of Light thing?
Some guy got messages from aliens that On October 14th, 2008
a big 2,000ft spaceship was supposed to circle the Earth, and there would be
chaos in the world? Funny how that didn't happen. AND, when the swiss were doing
the molecule testing thing or whatever, how as soon as they did it, there would be a huge
black hole that swallowed the earth? People got all hyped about that, but it didn't happen...

There are more then one story for the whole 2012 thing.
There's the Mayan thing, and then, I guess a new one about a pole shift?
Where the world with totally turn around? Yeah. Ok.

I'm not worried about this stuff. If it happens, it happens. That's life.
