Haha, "McCain" and "campaign" rhyme.
Discuss. Edit:// He's also called for the first presidential and the lone VP debates to be postponed. Discuss that too. |

i think it was stupid. why can't he have a debate? this just looks bad to me to say he's suspending his campaign to go work on the crisis, it makes not that much sense to me. as if that really matters, as a senator he hasn't voted on anything since april, so who cares. i don't think he needs to suspend his campaign and run back. he should just stay and debate economics with obama

Not to mention he's not a part of any of the finance committees, so it's not like he's going to be directly involved in any of the direct negotiations. Harry Reid's already said they don't need him (or Obama for that matter, but he's already said he's not doing any of that campaign suspension foolishness) back. It's all a publicity stunt. I hope it blows up McCain's his face.
I'M GOING TO BE PISSED IF THE DEBATE ISN'T FRIDAY. You're not the only one.

John McCain was supposed to appear on David Letterman, and canceled at the last minute, said he was flying to Washington to deal with the economy. And then, while the show was taping -- literally, at the exact same time -- had the nerve to do an interview with Katie Couric for the CBS Evening News.
Dave was not pleased. |

Well, it's definitely an interesting political play. I'm not quire sure how I feel about this.
I was totally looking forward to the debates. Had the day off, not specifically for that, and everything. Poo. |

YOU SHEEPLE.
My prediction: Martial law will be declared in America over "financial crisis." This will bend over and delay the coming elections. Then, we either have ourselves a Stalinist nation, or a Fascist regime. Enjoy your fear. American people are not what they used to be. -edit SUP, f****ts. |

They definitely don't want Palin to get slaughtered by Biden in her debate next week. McCain just needs to admit that he is ill prepared to debate at this time. Obama has been saying all of the right things concerning this.

It was a good move on McCain's part to silence critics about his unwillingness to confront the situation. |

instead of suspending his whole campaign he should let Palin take over while he goes back to washington
![]() i don't think he should suspend it at all, he should multitask |

Can they legally do that? What? Suspend the campaign or delay the debate? The answer to both is yes. As the nominee, and therefore head of the Republican Party, he can do whatever he wants to do, concerning his campaign (you know, short of blatantly breaking the law, cheating, etc). The debates aren't even required by law, they're just customary. But it's not going to look good for McCain if the Commission on Presidential Debates says to go forward, and Obama is the only one that shows up.

well it's like 10 hours until the debate and i guess we still don't know if mccain is gonna show up.
i just read that they have come up with plan B, if mccain doesn't show then audience members will submit questions to the moderator to ask obama. if mccain doesn't show up, i think that is a seriously dumbass move. obama will get all that attention and time to himself if they end up doing that and giving him a chance to answer questions anyway. |

Obama has been saying all of the right things concerning this. hmm, i think mccain would still be prepared. he's pretty good at debating-he just can't get heated on one topic (which he's done before) but that's what i'm hoping for! lol if mccain doesn't show up, i think that is a seriously dumbass move. obama will get all that attention and time to himself if they end up doing that and giving him a chance to answer questions anyway. exactly. there is no way mccain is going to let obama get all that media attention for himself! that would be ridiculous and kind of funny if obama was up there by himself. and it's JUST 90 MINUTES. i think he can take an hour and a half out of his time dealing with the bailout crisis and debate! but i have been looking forward to tonight for a really long time, so he better show up. and aw, the dave letterman thing made me feel bad for dave. i loved how they had the live feed to couric's interview. lol. |

mccains debate skills depend on the subject. if it's debating on foreign policy and war and what not then he'll be ok i guess, but we already know he will probably suck it up at an economic debate. the economy is what should be debated imo, i mean don't the polls show that like 60-70% of voters rank the economy as their number one concern?
anyway i agree there is no way he'd miss it. he'll be there tonight. this whole "i've gotta go back and save america" bit has been a disaster imo. he's just looked like a complete idiot. it was URGENT he get back to washington and it took him how long to actually get there? like 24 hours or something? it doesn't take very long to get from new york to washington urgently! this whole suspension of his campaign has been a joke, nothing has been suspended it doesn't seem like. what a show. letterman was funny, i don't blame him for being annoyed. the couric interview was more important though because he had to go make up for what a mess palin made during hers. i can't wait for tonight edit: QUOTE WASHINGTON (CNN ) -- Sen. John McCain, who announced he was pulling out of Friday night's presidential debate to help forge legislation to save crippled U.S. financial markets, believes enough progress has been made for him to debate Democrat Sen. Barack Obama, his campaign said Friday.

.. This goes to show you what type of president he is.
Can't a president handle multiple things at a time .. isn't that what they are suppose to do ? Apparently McCain can't take all this. What a baby. |

the economy is what should be debated imo, i mean don't the polls show that like 60-70% of voters rank the economy as their number one concern? Well, they're scheduled to debate foreign policy, but I'm sure there're going to be some economics related questions, since our economy is inextricably linked with those of the rest of the world.
