First you have to cut out the area around the feet. Use the Freehand Selection tool and set it to point to point. Once you cut them out, fill the area around them with a color that's not anywhere else in the image. Then go to Image > Palette > Set Palette Transparency and check the box with the color you filled around the feet and press okay. Save it as a GIF or PNG.
