ok. i'm saving up for a train ticket, because i'm not paying a thousand f**king dollars to fly. it's almost 1,000 miles to where i want to go (to visit my friends and family since i just moved to the f**king middle of nowhere). and it's like 18 hours. im only afraid because im a teenage girl traveling by herself. should i like get some pepper spray? how can i feel more secure?

If it makes you feel better, sure, take pepper spray.

Or get one of those personal tasers.

I wouldn't want to travel by myself. I would force one of my brothers or one of their friends to go with me. I'd make 'em pay for their own ticket, too. And offer them extra money if they pretend to have fun. But of course, they wouldn't get the money when we get back.

I'd say take your cellphone with you and make sure that you get coverage in the areas that you will be by yourself and make sure that you have everything arranged as far as who is going to pick you up from the train station.

Trains aren't really that dangerous.

Now, if you were going by pirate ship...

Damn a thousand bucks to travel by plane, that sucks.

Anywho I wouldn't see anything wrong with traveling along by train or to even worry about it. I would look around though for a ticket, look at the company, kind of do some research of custom reviews and such.

Also I've never actually heard that trains are dangerous...
