You never check the Facebook blog? I read up on it and already didn't like the new Facebook. I see what they're trying to do, but honestly, the old Facebook is fine as it is.

I'll go look at it now..

No, I just usually just log on my facebook, and see if I have any new notifications, and if I don't I go to check pictures of friends who been tagged or if they got new pictures. After I'm done, I log out, and yeah. I could care less about the news, or blog Facebook has.

Oh. I don't read the FB blog a lot, but I read it to see if bad changes would be made to the site. And I use it often enough so that I mind the new homepage.

Reverting back to old settings now.

I don't read the facebook blog either, but I read other people's statuses. I also saw when a bunch of people became "fans" of the facebook preview about this a while ago. I thought it sounded horrible then- the mini-feed and wall combined WHY- but it's even worse than I had anticipated.

Last.fm changed a few days ago, and everyone on there is throwing a fit, but it now seems like they made the best change ever compared to this.

Rather than blocking invites, it blocks app visibility.

Actually nevermind, I don't think that does, but there's some kind of greasemonkey script that does.

Two things I hate about it already:
  1. My personal info is on a tab -- a tab that's not shown first by default (the wall is). I go to pages to look at that information, not to read walls.
  2. It stretches my browser window, and forces me to scroll horizontally. When will web designers learn that (a) some users have small screens (although I hardly consider 1024x768 to be small), and (b) not all of us are foolish Windows users who automatically expand every window to the entire width and height of the screen.

Eh, I don't know.

At least when Myspace did their redesign they kept the ability to keep the old settings. Yes, I know not a lot of people use Myspace anymore, but still.

Would someone like to take a screenshot of this myspace redesign for me? I cannot be assed to figure it out myself. Although why anyone would complain about a change in the myspace website is beyond me.

Exactly. Not that my resolution's not big enough for it, but it's still unnecessarily wide. There's far too much extra space between the newsfeed and the right sidebar. And while I use Windows, I still nearly always have more than one window at a time.

Haha, I was wondering when you were going to realize it was me. Heh. I warned you? I seriously do not remember this. Maybe it's due to lack of sleep.

I have no idea why they decided to hide the information section. I agree completely, when I visit other people's profiles I go to look at the information they've undoubtedly spent time putting together so other people can read it. However, as you and I have discussed before, there aren't many people who actually enjoy reading what other people have to say anymore. Most people care only about their own posts and if someone replies to one of their posts, so it seems like that's the direction social networking has decided to take. I still think it's trash and it's not doing anything to help, it's just taking the problem, then accepting it and running with it.

You're right, 1024x768 is hardly small. The way I tend to browse (also on a mac), my windows fill a little more than half of my 13" screen, so I could be viewing somewhere in between 800x600 and 1024x768. And I remember when that used to be large.. blink.gif

i dont like how xanga changed

I know, right? Dude, xanga totally reminds me of the yahoo page or something - it's cluttered. Except for xanga, it's full of useless stuff, but I don't care anymore since I stopped logging in. It's confusing though if I want to view my page with my original skin. Actually, I thought xanga looked more cluttered than the new myspace skins that are available. Fortunately myspace allows me to use the old skin for the home page.

As for facebook.. Oh man, seriously it just looks more cluttered this way. What a bunch of wasted space. I mean seriously, it looks fine the way it is right now. Damn, so they're going to make it permanent for everyone?! Aww :[

it's too...cluttered.

complaining isn't going to help. before the last facebook redesign, the people of facebook created a group to show off images of how everything was going to look post flip. there was tons of feedback about what people did and didn't like, and if you were to go back and look, most, if not all, was overlooked.

Same here. I've always hidden my online status there, but I'd still check to see who was online by clicking "Online Friends." Now I have to go online, see who's on, then sign back out. It's not like it even takes that long to sign in and sign out; it's just that it was a bad decision on Facebook's part to make that change.

Yeah I didn't update it....

It says it's complicated

I hate it...

It hides the bumberstickers and everything.

The updated info is together with the comments.

Yeah, just click the "revert" link at the top.

At least we can revert back, but mainly it annoys me that Facebook made such a bad decision in changing the homepage and profile setup at all.

I'm pretty sure I'll get used to the new layout if Facebook decides to make it official... I think I was pretty against the current layout when it first came out. Or the chat thing anyway.

Or am I just imagining the fact that it used to be different?

Eh, its like when any site comes out with a new layout, it looks weird but if you have no choice, you just get used to it and can't imagine it any different. But...I still like the old layout either way.

I'm still against that chat thing.

All IE users are reluctant to switch over, but once you get accustomed to Firefox, you'll never want to use IE again.
Same here. I've always hidden my online status there, but I'd still check to see who was online by clicking "Online Friends." Now I have to go online, see who's on, then sign back out. It's not like it even takes that long to sign in and sign out; it's just that it was a bad decision on Facebook's part to make that change.

But to be fair, most people fought against the newsfeed. Nevertheless, that was a smaller, less ridiculous change, and you can hide what you don't want public.

Oh, I know that. I didn't want it either, and I have everything hidden from showing up in my mini-feed.
