I think that's the lamest reason to decide NOT to be with someone. Hell, if they're too good for you and you both know it, yet they still want to be with you...

Maybe the person is insecure. If they get together with someone who they think is "too good" for them, then they'll always feel like they're not deserving of the other person's affections. It'll only make them feel like a bad person since they feel like they're the reason why they're holding back the other.

"you're too good for me" is not a real reason. if a person can't love oneself, then that person cannot love another. the real reason behind that bullshit is "i dislike/hate myself."

It'll only make them feel like a bad person since they feel like they're the reason why they're holding back the other. it's a sweet compliment when one states that s/he's "undeserving" of a significant other's love --it's basically another corny way to say, "i'm very lucky to be with you"; however, for someone to use that phrase as an excuse to not be with someone is not only untruthful, but pathetic -_-. we all have our times of insecurity within relationships, but for a person to think that someone is "too good" for him/her (and actually be serious about it) is just sad. |

OMG I hate that shit. I know a person like that & I just ignore it most of the time. Inside though I'm like "STFU you pussy! Do something with your life!"
Insecurity is one of my biggest turn offs. |

If someone says that, it doesn't even involve the other person. It's a problem that they have with themselves. I've heard a lot of people say "Oh she's too good for him" or "He's too good to her" about other people's relationships. I wonder if there's any truth to it.

My ex boyfriend told me that sometimes, when he wasn't too busy being an a-hole.
He didn't use it as an excuse to break up, but he said it and meant it. I always told him he crazy, that no one is too good for anyone else. But, looking back on it he really didn't deserve me and he knew it. So, maybe it's one of those deals. |

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Just sounds like the person was trying to get out of the relationship.

i've gotten this response before. he stated that it would be a good thing for him if we got together, but he just doesn't see it happening.
I think he was just too insecure for himself. hahah, people are lame :/ |

it's the worst excuse in the book and it only breaks heart.
if you're going to consider saying that to someone, you should really think twice and get real. |

Ahhh I hate that excuse I heard that one when my last relationship ended. I think one reason that someone would say that, might be because they cheated on you and they know you didn't deserve it. But, if it isn't for that reason, then it makes no sense really.
