I was driving into this parking building and ran into one of those yellow poles as I was going through the gate.

And now the edge of my car's got this big ole' dent.

We were going to watch the new Batman and the entire time, I was just thinking about how I was going to tell my mother and couldn't really enjoy the movie. It was horrible.

><

Have you ever run into something with your car then needed to tell your parents and had this sinking feeling in your gut between the time you did the damage and the time you called them?

:(

I don't drive, but I have had similar experiences. If I were you, I would just get it over with asap, so that it won't eat at you.

Hah, aww. That's not as bad as someone that I know who ran into the bank. He was going through the drive-up and smashed his car on the side of the buidling. I just laughed at him when he told me.

When my mom first let me drive her car (I was around 8) she told me to back it into the drive way and I ran into the pole that holds up the overhang of the roof by our step. I felt really bad, but my dad just got the hammer and pushed it back out. Looking back on it, it was funny. But at the time I was scared.

lol, i've never hit anything while driving but you should tell your parents before it eats you away. plus its better you tell them first because if they see it before you tell them, they're going to think you're keeping something from them and then the trust issues come in. sighs, parents. _dry.gif

I haven't. Although, I failed my driver's test (behind the wheel) twice. The third time I passed, but I got a speeding ticket on the way home. My mom was fuming.

stubborn.gif

My dad's actually not mad at all, he might calm my mom down if she ends up angry.

And while it was a bright yellow pole, it was too short and stubby that I couldn't see it over the front of the car. I didn't realize it was yellow until I saw the paint that rubbed off.

My sister laughed so hard when she read this.

I've never had anything like that happen while driving, but I've missed several important deadlines and/or events. shifty.gif

"mom, i accidentally had a run in with one of the parking poles and it ended up leaving a dent, but isnt that better than me getting severely hurt in the car?"

thats what i plan to do if anything happens to me

Done that once.
Ran over a fence while parking.
It was a fence going off a cliff. Yes I was scared since I would have killed myself if i went over.

Luckily, there was a dent in the car caused by my sister but there was a huge scratch caused by me. I just blamed it on my sister saying it was there long ago. lol

I was with my friend in the drive-thru a couple of years ago and her car overheated and it kept stalling. I thought it was funny, but she was ready to cry.

wtf?

I got in an accident the day I left for Chicago. I'd already dealt with the initial reaction, but half the trip was spent feeling guilty and dreading the ramifications to come.

"wtf?" to me driving at 8?

I learned how to drive before I was 8. I'm a farm kid, so it's typical. That's probably why I didn't get any points when I took my behind the wheel drivers test.

lol you should've just told her that you came back and it was a hit and run or something. shrug.gif But I guess lying would be pretty bad, so at least she's letting you drive again. thumbsup.gif You should've just gotten some paint thinner and a towel + soap + water and wash/rub the paint off. I remember when this dude rear-ended Tony's car, but we just washed the car and the paint went off AND the bumper popped back out so it doesn't even look like it got hit at all -- SRSLY. Good thing we got $1000 out of that. victory.gif

What movie did you rent? eyebrowes.gif Do you have that blockbuster online thing? It's handy! cool.gif

EDIT - my sister totaled her car (it was supposed to be my car to practice on after I get my license since she was supposed to get another car anyways) on the first day of college, but it was still running. She wasn't even crying or anything, just panicking because she didn't know what to say. STUPIDDDDD.

That was in the fine print: "You're not allowed to drive again (unless it meets my personal needs, not yours)."

Hm. Yeah, that's a horrifying thought here.

I went on a geology field trip to some rural place last fall, and this truck kept driving by us- first driven by a kid who looked like he was no more than 7, then by his even younger sister. We were all absolutely horrified.

I first drove when I was 4. Well, I had the wheel. One of my parents worked the pedals.

I was too short to really drive.

OMG I did the EXACT same thing. I think I might have been like 11, but I was driving home from church with my dad and I got nervous going into the carport. My dad told me to stop when I got up there and he was gonna go ahead and park the car, but somehow I just gunned it into the pole and bent it up pretty bad. My dad straightened it out, but my family (my brother especially, who was yelling from the backseat the entire time) still remembers and laughs at me for it. My dad got a kick out of it at the time, too.

That doesn't count. I did that. I wouldn't consider that driving, because there was really no way for me to cause any serious damage.

Hey MelMelz, guess what?

Last night (okay, earlier this morning, in the wee hours), my sister came home and parked in the driveway, in front of the garage. She went to close and hit the automatic garage door! So now there's a dent in the garage door AND the one of the lines is broken. So the garage door only opens halfway. My mom is SOOO PISSED. laugh.gif
