2:10!

that was great; interesting and insightful. I like how he was conscious about answering the questions and constantly verified what he was asked; it showed he wasn't trying to bullshit his way out of anything. He made excellent points and did it all tactfully. Instead of I HATE RINGTONE RAPPERS THEY SUCK, it was yeah go ahead and do that, all the better for me! mm enjoyed that a lot, thanks jairus

curious what other people think.

im so glad i found it as well. I never knew the "term" ringtone rappers i find that hilarious. It also enlighten me about kanye west being a rapper and my perception of rapping in general. I love krs as a rapper and a person, and i agree that kanye isnt really a rapper.

i will agree that kanye has gotten more pop-ish, but how can someone say he's not a rapper? have you listened to college dropout? how the hell are we gonna put that on a scale with anything 50 has EVER created? i think that's a ridiculous thing to say. he's one of the few people commercially nowadays who can actually impress me with lyrics.

"i'm like the fly malcolm x, buy any jeans necessary"

that shit has had me cracking up since i heard it. not many "popular" people nowadays say a line and make me be like "HOLD UP!" and rewind. if that doesn't make you chuckle to yourself, you needa go read up.

i like and respect krs but i think he's wayyyyyy off saying this shit about 50 cent. 50 cent? wtf? 50 CENT? that's crazy talk.

i know i was like stop. when he said 50 cent, i mean he answered the question well. Krs NEVER compared the two rappers and made it evident that his perception of HIP HOP was different than others. Which made his point extremely valid.

You cant compare picasso to van gogh... different styles just like 50 and ye.

JC- what does the second part of the line mean?

Its a play on words, Malcomn X originally said "by any means necessary". When Ye says I'm like the fly Malcomn X, he talking about his fashion and how fly he is which enters into "buy any jeans necessary". "Buy replaces by" , and "jeans replaces "means". So he buys any jeans necessary to stay fly, similar to Malcomn saying by any means necessary when he was standing up for his people.

KRS one is one of the realest dudes ever. I don't think people understand why KRS would side with 50 instead of Kanye but I know perfectly why he would, and he has good reason to. I like Kanye better but I understand where he coming from.

It's only cause KRS1 relates more to 50 than Kanye.

I'm not big on the whole hip-hop scene, but I have to say that KRS' answer was very well thought-out. Very insightful.
