They get mailed to you mid-July.

You can call and get your results earlier if you wish, but (I think) you have to pay $15.

I was really tempted to pay the fee and get them early early this month, but there's only approximately a week left to wait. So.. whistling.gif I'll wait it out.

According to the website, you pay $8 every time you call to get your results.

Anyone know how much it would be to get your AP marks sent to your college/university again? The university I'm going to never got my AP Psych exam mark... an exam I took in grade 11. = ='' Stupid bastards.

You may also send your AP grades by phone for a fee of $15 per college, beginning July 4.

Freaking $15 for their mistake? UGHHH!!

What if you're a junior and have no idea where you're going? I hate how they let you send scores to schools for free when you take the test, then when you actually know where you're going you have to pay. _dry.gif

I GOT MINE!!!

I was really happy with my calc and bio scores, and ehh with my japanese score. During the free response typing part of the japanese test, everyone's computer started typing in english instead of converting it to japanese, and everyone was like O_O WTF?! haha so yeah, they said they'd project our final scores off of our multiple choice section alone, but they didn't :( which really lowered everyone's score. But I still got a 3, so I'm pretty relieved. I thought I'd get like a 2 or something. XD

I haven't gotten mine yet either! I know my university got this year's batch a couple days ago, and it'll take them a week or so to put them all in the computers. Hope they don't mess and screw a bunch of people over again. = =''

I suppose I don't really need to worry since acceptance isn't a problem., but if I get my 96% (equivalent to a 5), I can have a little wiggle room for my English mark, and I would have a higher chance of getting $4000 versus $2000. Scholarships FTW!

Also, I'm deathly afraid of failure. It's my pride that will hurt too.

5 on chinese, actually not what I expected. I totally f**ked myself up in the oral part (I wrote a whole spiel about it in another AP test thread) but I guess it turned out alright! The test asked to talk about a city in China and its significance etc etc--what comes to mind? BEIJING RIGHT? Except I was a complete idiot and tried to talk about Shanghai. And by try I mean completely failed; I assumed I'd get a 4 or 3 depending on how well the fobs did. IM SO HAPPY :D :D :D

Always a plus. :]

Oh damn. BUT if it's for some random class that I'm not planning to take in college (like japanese) then does it really matter if I get a 3?

... but where I live, we have to take provincial exams to get into the universities in BC. If we don't do well in our provincials, they accept our AP marks in replacement... so it'd be a MAJOR plus if I did well. Oh well.

Provincial exams?.........oh, you live in Canada. haha I didn't get what BC meant for a minute there.

Does it go the other way too? Like, if you did well in provincials, then would they ignore your AP scores and let you not have to take the class?

No, because the provincial exams can be for ANY course. It's just for admission. AP exams are used for both admission and credits for specific classes.

I don't think we usually have exams for admissions. I might like that better than doing all the SATs and stuff, though. Do you guys have to do that too?

Nope, no SATs!! =D

From what I've heard, it's pretty freaking hard. My friend took it twice because he applied for universities in the states, and he had a lot of trouble with the vocabulary section. Apparently they just give you words out of context, and you have to figure out what it means? Harsh!

I'm not sure I remember any of those kinds of questions, but there might've been some like "A synonym of ______ is a) b) c) d) e)" But most of the time they're not like that; they usually give you a sentence or passage instead and say "the underlined word has the same/opposite meaning as a) b) c) d) e)"

I think. (._.) Or my memory might be going prematurely. I like to forget about unpleasant things.

But back on topic :D

APs actually made the end of my junior year easier, 'cause we didn't actually do anything in those classes after AP classes. XD

I have a question.. I looked at the 2008 exam & I found it extremely difficult to answer the short responses in 20 seconds.
I require time to think about what to say because if I don't.. I'd most likely stutter.. and stuttering will probably take up the entire 20 seconds.

I think you do get time to think before you speak, depending on how much depth or content the response requires. I'm pretty sure the lengthier responses such as the 'speech' ones you are given 2 minutes to prepare.

I'm trying to remember what happens with the short ones...I think you just have to wing it. The point is to test your conversational speaking ability I think, so I would just suggest you talk at a slower pace than normal. That way, you'll be able to say things calmly and kill some time instead of finishing what you have to say and having to sit there and wait idly. I remember one of the questions was in an interview format about applying to become a waiter, and the question was something like "what are your available hours" and I said the first thing that came to mind: I'm available at all hours. and then I had nothing else to say lol so I just had to watch the clock countdown while I almost clawed out my eyes from nervousness.

Don't worry, I stuttered really badly too on my exam x_x My voice actually shook because when I was trying to bs my way through talking about Shanghai I was like..SHIT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM SAYING THIS MAKES NO SENSE.

did you take the AP chinese class or are you just doing it from uh having a chinese background..?

at my school, APMT is an easy class. our professor hardly cares if we pay attention or be on time or not, and he rarely gives us homework. all our grades are participation (ex. concerts at the meyerson? uhhh awesome!) and tests (which we had two of... fall semester exam and spring semester exam).

for other schools, we hear horror stories. our professor is just like "uh yeah i'm on the board for writing the exam, you guys should know your stuff anyway!" then he goes on lecturing/telling stories

the actual course material is kind of killer if you don't have an extremely strong base.

section of death is different for everyone. there's an aural multiple-choice portion, where you listen to an excerpt and answer questions about it; then there's the straight-up multiple-choice, then there's the sightsinging portion and the written portion (melodic dictation, harmonic dictation, writing four-part harmony).

my weakness was multiple-choice, haha. i've always been the person who gets by theory assignments in orchestra and piano and etc with perfect pitch, but APMT has so much focus on... technicalities. and theory. lol... which is kind of what the entire class is about, but yeah. i've never really been pushed to really learn my theory until last year. there are a lot of terms and memorization involved in the class.

daaamn this is a long post. good luck!

did you take the AP chinese class or are you just doing it from uh having a chinese background..?

I taking it through self-study and Chinese background.
I only started learning Mandarin last summer though. So I'm hoping I can get about 1.5k-2k characters down and memorize structure. It should be easy though because I speak another dialect at home which has almost the same structure.

:) Thanks for the tips, btw.

I got mine. I live in the LA area. I was happy because I got a 3 on ApengLang and a 5 on APjapanese. :D I didn't even TAKE the apjapanese class So I was happy :] I also didn't study for it :P (well I only got a 5 because I took hardcore Japanese school for 9 years before)

------
I also found the oral part really hilarious. I was either laughing from humor or nervousness for most of them. :P Seriously... No one told me we had to talk into microphones and "interact" with a computer prerecorded script. Those 20 second recording stuff were filled with "uhhhh.... and uhhh yeah..." for the most part XDDD

if you're given the chance, take psychology because it's really easy. seriously! and i'm no genius. plus psychology was one of the most interesting courses i've ever taken.
