So I was at a party this weekend, and the majority of the time it was taking just taking pictures. What happen to just enjoying your time at the party, drink dance, go wild. Instead, it's everyone let's get together for group pic. snap snap. then everyone goes to each other with a camera and snap snap. then at great america the next day, I overheard so many people, like "ey take my picture, i'ma post it on myspace" i was like wtf? are you guys here to go on the rides, or take pictures. i don't know, sometimes i feel like everytime i go out now, everyone is so concern about taking pictures and trying to look good, because they know it's going to be on fb/myspace. I think it's really annoying hanging with some of my friends who are major fb whores who have 10,000 tagged photos/albums. nowadays, i try to avoid them, and hang with people who doesn't carry a camera around and snapping pictures 24/7.

I definitely agree with what you're saying. The constant picture taking around here is just ridiculous. I mean to have a camera for unexpected things is one thing, but to take pictures every five seconds is something else.

Yeah, that's dumb and unnecessary. I don't check my Myspace that often, but I think it's weird when you sign on and go to someone's page and you're in a picture of theirs... and you don't ever remember anyone asking you. It's just kinda creepy.

I can relate.
I have a couple friends who will always sit by themselves and take pictures whenever a bunch of us get together because they want to add them to MySpace. They'll worry about whether they look good, and if they don't, they go and put on more makeup and take more pictures.
It's pretty annoying, and I think to myself, "Whatever happened to just having a good time with friends?" They're so superficial that I can't ever have a deep conversation with them because they'd rather take pictures.

^ OMG, it's the worst when you go to take a picture with one of your friends and then they look at it and think they don't look good enough so they have to delete it and take another one with you. Over and over. Until they look good.

That's exactly what one of my friends does!
She wanted to take pictures with me one time, and I gave in. She kept on taking the same picture of the same pose over and over and deleting "bad ones" because she said I looked good but she didn't. blink.gif

This is why I do my best not to hang out with stupid people.

That said, a couple of my friends this past year spent all their time just taking pictures of each other, and it drove me insane. I would go home for the weekend, and find that they'd taken three facebook albums' worth of pictures of themselves trying to look cool.

What I hate most about social events and facebook is the queer desire for some of my friends to contact everyone for a party through facebook. Then when I don't show up because I don't want to be there/didn't know about it, so they wig out and say, "How did you not know? I posted it of Facebook?"

"Yeah, my life doesn't revolve around facebook... It's call pick up this thing called a phone and dial my phone number. Hell, why not use that hellspawn(cellphone) in your pocket for its intended function. :O:O:O"

Ugh. This is kinda off topic but I especially HATE it when couples take pictures of themselves making out. Please, get over yourselves.

I see what you're saying... it's as if people go out just to take pictures to post on Facebook/Myspace, right? Yeah, I've noticed some people doing that, but it really doesn't bother me much. Maybe because they're still committed to having fun and actually enjoying the party while taking lots of pictures?

I totally agree with what you're sayin', and I mos def know some people like that, but Facebook and other soc nets can be used more rationally to help create more social outings, imo.

I really like the Events feature for organizing and promoting events. Although the RSVP may not be 100% accurate, it's a nice first step to letting people know what's going on.

i agree ^^.
and not that its pointed out. its so true. all i see now is people (mostly girls) lining up in the same direction and posing. it takes out of the fun and takes time. it is ruining ppls social outings. i thinks its to a point where ppl want to make sure that EVERYONE knows that they go out and have fun.

I completely agree. Except people get pissed off about not remembering about the event because the organizer didn't send a reminder through Facebook (mind you, they check Facebook every day and the organizer reminded them IN PERSON a few days before)

Don't worry Steph. I enjoy stalking your tagged photos, of your hot friends. shifty.gif

I mean taking pictures is fine, but there's an extent you know. I mean everyone loves to keep memories and all. Just don't overdo it.

I think people truly want to capture the moments but the quick thought that comes to mind when a picture opportunity comes up, is the opportunity for a new display picture. I don't really take pictures because I think lugging around my digicam is sometimes a hassle. So I get really thankful when I get home and log on, only to steal pictures from everyone else. But I understand where you're coming from.

Taking Facebook and MySpace pictures has always been lame. I don't like when people take pictures just to post up on their sites.

lawl i try to cover my face in every picture that's being taken of me, especially if there is alcohol involved -_- but it doesn't matter if they tag me in a picture or not because no one can view those tagged pics except me :)

i know what you mean..
but the original point of an outing is having a good time with people.

i doubt people will ever get together just to take myspace/facebook pictures.

Same, but you still got to see my album pictures...

"hey sally lets add each other on facebook"
"sure" (forgets to set up limited profile for album pictures)
5 minutes later

Lol, inorite.

I've always been a huge camera whore, I love pictures. I know what you mean about people being obsessed, but I've never found it too bad at parties and stuff... like taking posed photos never really takesoveran evening. Sometimes when you're out, I guess.
