I think it's AIM the program itself.

That's probably the problem right there. There's programs for nosey parents that do stuff like that.

Same here. I taught myself way before they knew what they were doing and now I'm the family computer person. Which has it's downfalls as well...I'm the one everyone in the family calls about stupid things like installing a program or something.

^ So effing true.

It can be annoying sometimes. _dry.gif

I don't know how he did that. Maybe you should search for it yourself, using the search thing on your computer. First you should check if he uninstalled it or not, by checking the ADD or REMOVE programs in the control panel. If it's not there, just re-install AIM. If it is, search for it.

Grab a dictionary and start with the first word, you will eventually unlock the password. Maybe.

Search the Add/Remove programs list...see if something looks suspicious in there. Look for words like "Parent" "Spy" IM" "AOL" "AIM" MSN" et cetera. There are programs like that that don't come in the Add/Remove programs list. Sometimes the only way to access the program is by pressing the right random keys on your keyboard to open the program. Many instant message spying clients use this...

Something you may want to do is do a google search for "instant message spying" or "aim spying" not to spy on someone, but when you search for that, you come up with a lot of programs for parents to see what their kids do on the computer, aim, et cetera.

Hope I was of some help...if not, sorry.

I think it has something to do with the ports ... or whatevers ... I don't think he used a program .. i dunno, because i checked his .. programs and nothing had to do with AIM or anything liek that ..
i wish i could use AIM Express but whenever i log on .. i dont think its working because no one gets my messages .. so AIM express doesnt work _dry.gif

So .. how do you get access to the ports .. or whatevr?

www.aim.com and go to left sidebar where it says Get In Touch and there should be a link to AIM Express. You basically use AIM without installing it on your computer.

Unlock(undeny) the port in 192.168.0.1(d-link).

The username and pass word are usually this:
. Username: admin
. Password: no password

Once you log in, try to find a page call Firewall.
Then find an ActionName called "aim (192.168.0.101:10289)" or aim something.
Click on the white paper with a pen(edit button) and check Allow instead of Deny.
Click Apply.

Now try if your AIM works. _smile.gif
