Do you still listen to the same music you did when you were younger? When I was really young I listened to R&B, when I got around age 10-11 I started listening to rap, then when I got into high school I started to listen to rock and metal. So now I listen to a variety of all of the above, but my music collection leans heavily towards the rock and metal genre.

I listened to r&b and hip hop growing up, and when I got to high school, I started listening to rock. Now I listen to 90 percent rock along with some r&b and old school 60's 70's music.

Growing up, it was mostly pop (like Hilary Duff...you get the picture). Now it's pretty much...everything, from pop, to rock, to r&b, even country.

I have always had a very broad taste in music.
I have always listened to everything from waylon jennings to Usher. From Sublime to metallica. Elvis to Leftover Crack. Most people I meet are surprised by how many different types of music I listen to frequently. It's always been mostly rock, though. That and any kind of big band and swing music. ![]() |

I kind of phased out the poppy music I used to listen to when I was 14-17ish, but no wits really just come back and assimilated itself into my broader taste.
I honestly would quite happily listen to anything nowadays... I just like music. |

Slightly, but I have a broader genre selection process. From Rock, Hip Hop to International... It depends on the song, not the genre.

When I was really young, I gotta admit I listened to that really youth pop stuff, even Disney stuff. After that I went straight to gangsta rap like Dr. Dre, influenced from my older half brother. At first I ate what the radio played, but my musical taste broadened out a lot since then. Open to all sorts of music, and I can get around. Hip hop has always had a special place in my heart, though, ha ha.
"Now she's a gangsta rollin' with gangsta bitches, Always smokin' blunts and gettin' drunk, Tellin' me sad stories, now she only f**ks with the funk, Stressin' how hardcore and real she is, She was really the realest, before she got into showbiz, I did her, not just to say that I did it, But I'm committed, but so many niggaz hit it, That she's just not the same lettin' all these groupies do her, I see niggas slammin' her, and takin' her to the sewer, But I'ma take her back hopin' that the shit stop, 'Cause who I'm talkin bout y'all is hip-hop." -- Common |

I have a very broad taste in music. I like everything from Rick Astley to Cattle decapitation. And Primus, the best band ever. Primus doesn't fall in between any two bands.

Huh. I've been thinking a lot lately about my taste in music now compared to when I was younger. Anyway, I used to listen to a lot of pop, rap, and hip hop. Nowadays, I pretty much listen to anything I find enjoyable. I've come to absolutely love The Beatles. Who knew they were such geniuses? Others include Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Annie Lennox, Marc Anthony, Dave Mathews Band, Ace of Base, and U2. I really missed out on a lot now that I think about it.

When I was younger, it was always pop, oldies or spanish music. Today, I still listen to oldies and spanish, but not really pop ( although I do still listen to bsb.) I listen to pretty much everything. Except screamo.

Yea, I still listen to the same music...Oldies, pop, rock, etc. Some of the latest songs get kind of redundant so it causes me to look through my collection or my mom's collection & listen to the older music...I'll never grow tired of it...

I've always had a wide variety of interest, when it comes to music. I pretty much listen to the same songs, same artists that I always have. The only difference are the new artists that I add to my collection.
The first song that I remember listening to is "For the Benefit of Mister Kite", by the Beatles. My older brother is absurdly into the Beatles, so they were a constant in my youth and have remained a favorite of mine. Same with ELO. I grew up in the 80's, so a huge chunk of what I listen to are from that era (think The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Echo and the Bunnyman, and so forth). I loved Thriller and Off the Wall when I was young. Those albums are such fun to listen to. Madonna's "Like a Virgin" was also a mainstay. In my early twenties, I fell in love with Radiohead. I listen to them everyday, although not necessarily the same album everyday. Of recent years, they are the artist I listen to the most. Their arsenal is so diverse, I can't seem to ever get bored with them. Then there's the electronic-ish stuff, mostly acid jazz or trip hop. I love Portishead, Morcheeba, UNKLE and the like. I went through a [brief] phase of Prodigy and Chemical Brothers. It was during the electronic boom of the mid 90's, I want to say. I'll do the sappy acoustic love sucks and I want to sing about it stuff too. I just can't deal with it that often. [Think Kings of Convenience of Belle and Sebastion (sort of). The ladies, Tori Amos and Fiona Apple are here to stay. There's more, but I've already indulged in my lwp of the day. |

I listen to a lot of different stuff, so I guess my taste it music hasn't really changed. There have been some years, though, that I was more into the heavier stuff than any other genre. I still enjoy a lot of the music that I grew up listening to. Still listen to some songs that I'll never admit to ever having liked.

I've listened to a variety of music over the years... I started off listening to a bunch of '80s/'90s Chinese music, thanks to my parents' mixed tapes and my dad's super old vinyl records. And then I think I started paying attention to Western music after hearing about the Spice Girls. You can say I was pretty obsessed with them.
Spice Girls then led me to a bunch of pop groups/artists, like Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera,... and YTV Hitlist (a Canadian kids' MTV-like show back in the day) got me into B4-4, B*Witched, Aqua, soulDecision... Then throughout the preteen years, I went through some (pretty soft) hip-hop, R&B, and rap, which includes Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, Ashanti, Missy Elliott, Eminem, Nelly, Ja Rule, etc. After going to Hong Kong and China one summer, I got totally into the Asian scene. It started off with the crappy poppy Twins and Boy'z, which got me to Leo Ku, Joey Yung, Eason Chan, Jay Chou, Nan Quan Mama, and Wang Lee Hom. And THEN I went through a Korean phase, with Se7en, 1TYM, Wheesung, Fly To The Sky, Shinhwa,... Finally, I transitioned back to English music. Now I listen to a variety of music, including Jamie Cullum, John Mayer, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Sondre Lerche, Arctic Monkeys, Wolfmother, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers,... and the occasional Asian stuff. Man, that was boringly long. = ='' |
