Hello, I'm new to this site. I was just wondering how i would go about making a grunge type box in photoshop. It's hard to explain exactly what i mean. Like a rectangle but the border of it looks like paint splatters etc. I tried doing it with some brushes i have but it didn't come out well at all, It may be the brushes i'm using though i'm not too sure. Hope you can help, Thanks in advance. _smile.gif

I didn't end up saving as it was really bad. The box ends up being twice the width and looks completely stupid. :/

EDIT:
I think it just looks TOO much and jsut doesnt look good at all. Maybe its the brushes i'm using?

ahhh okay.
well what i would do is open up a new document in ps, get your Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) & make a selection. that would be your box. then go edit>stroke putting 4 as your width for the stroke. then do a ctrl+j to copy your box to a new layer & a ctrl+d to deselect your selection. after, do a shift+ctrl+n to make a new layer. drag that layer in-between your Background layer & "Layer 1." select your brush tool & add brushes. & there you go! _smile.gif
it would come out looking like this:

is that the effect you were looking to do? shrug.gif

EDIT
i don't think its too much. it's just that some of the brushes, the splatters surrounding the box, are a tab blurry.
